long shot, who here saw DJ Dan, Misterss Barbara, Andy C in 2003 at the docks?

first was andy c, i remember him asking the techs over the mic if they could turn up the bass. we chanted we want more bass, they gave us more bass, it was so goddam loud..

then DJ Dan Wanders on, we are all anticipating some funky-ass grooves! everyone is smilin lookin up at him, in this hugge freakin room..

so he puts on a nice lil rollin bass line track, ba ba ba ba ba ba ba, and its pretty quiet, and nothin is really changin, and after a few minutes of the non bassness, im just about to say "this is kinda lame?" to my friend mity mike, when all of a sudden, Dan DROPS the bass! the place exploded and the party started, freakin sent shivers just thinkin about it... so he kicked ass for hte next hour or whatever, was getting pretty hard towards the end, and then this... chick?? comes on??

me and my friends are saying "who is this lady??" barbara??? wtf??

so she comes on, and holy shit, she was crankin out the most insane techno i have ever heard, she would drop out the bass, and then bring 80% of it back, and then slap on the other 20% 3 beats later when ur not expecting it, i remember kids were jumpoing up on the railing infront of the booth just FREAKIN out!! man what an insane night, wOOO

sooooo was anyone there????

Great party.

Andy C ripped it. Awesome set. Dan was alright and Barbara made a nice finish to the night.

easily one of the best parties I've ever been too...wish I didn't dance so hard to DJ Dan, because Barbara annilhilated me within a half-hour...so sore after that...haha!...

missed most of Andy C's set cuz I was in the Tides room dancing to Tim Patrick's set (I think)...but I caught the changeover, when the MC was still going off during Dan's opening.

LOL

I can tell you she played 80% of the tracks from her relentless beats vol 2 CD that night though. She was on tour for it at the time.

I remember us all singing along to Space DJz - wavecruisin (or is it starcrusin...I cant remember but it's on that CD)

Siiick track... we should pull that one out of the archives, Sarah.

Latest review ever!! Wasn't there but i definetly miss the days of the BIG parties.

I remember the first time I saw Mistress Barbara. It was at Exit (one of my favorite afterhours in Toronto). I forget the year prolly between 1999-2001. Either way at the time I had no idea who she was but the night went off.

I actually often take it in my record bag...it's pretty versatile! I played it at pride 2005!

First time I heard Barbara was at turbo, 2001...I've heard her about 15 - 20 times since then I think.

^^^that was the first time i heard her too.

anyways, i was at this party. i remember what i wore too, LOL. it was tres fun.

^^ I just went back to the review on tribe to see if there were pics and I read your review, which ended with "I can't really see what I'm typing"

The first post in the review said they pre-emptively voted that party the best party in 5 years" and I would have to say, almost 5 years later, it is still in my top 5.

Posted by Cuzo on Dec-19-2006 16:06:

I don't think I was at that party.

LOL that's when I first started seeing her as well... haven't seen her 15 or 20 times but certainly never disappointed. Turbo kicked ass for house and techno acts back in the day!
