Question Everyday Freedoms in the UK

So what's the deal with individual freedoms in the UK?

Are soft drugs like marijuana de-criminalized, like in Holland?
Is prostitution legal?

Just curious about how it is in the UK.
Here in the USA -- supposedly the Land of the Free -- the situation is very sad indeed, in all respects.

Just thought I'd share with you this humorous site that lists some sex laws in the United States:
http://www.journalism.sfsu.edu/flux/gSpot/sexLaw.html
(look for the yellow box -- the laws are summarized there)

None of it's legal. We all do it anyway though.

the funniest law + drugs combination i have ever seen was at last years summer sound system... there were police all over the place outside the tents, inside we were all gettin well mashed on class a's and they never came in to see muahahaha!

drugs: cannabis is soon to be decriminalised.. some time this year it wont be an arrestable offence to smoke a joint *woohoo!!* some government type people are also tryin to get MDMA & MDA (forms of xtc) down to class b instead of A.

whores: its perfectly legal to offer sex for money in your own house. goin out on the street and finding 'business' is illegal.

sex: legal age of consent is 16. however for some strange reason u have to be 18 to be gay.

general: u have to be 16 to smoke, 17 to drive, 18 to drink, and 21 to buy lighter gas. most clubs are over 18's but some are over 21 or over 25 (but these are generally shite).

And 14 to drive a tractor, hehe, i have said it once, and i will say it everytime this kinda thread comes up

Posted by dj_mdma on Mar-27-2002 12:39:

Not that i smoke but u have to be 18 in US to smoke and 21 to drink! WHATS UP WITH THAT?!

U have to be 18 to buy lighter fluid and gas here tu_face, I had to learn it cos i work on the Kiosk at TEsco's!

Big up Dave Blunkett for wanting to lower the Class of ecstasy and cannabis!

and you only have to be 13 to earn 4.50 a week on a shit paper round, unlike america u can't just throw them either, u have to deliver them to the house... that sucks and as far as whores go, just goto ur local park on a friday night and u could get laid easily... darkness and alcohol helps them have sex

It's legal to drink in your own home in the UK from the age of 5.

If you're a policeman it's also legal to beat up blacks and asians as a leisurely pastime.

By the way, Ste will you please take that lass out of your sig. It distracts me every time you make a post!
