A fun little competition for teh CORe.

ok, i'm an english and comminucations major and i decided to have a fun little competition.

here are the rules - in 100 words or less please describe your favorite EDM Holidays memory, this can be going to a club, chilling with your friends/family, drugs, etc. - but X-mas/New Year's and electronic music must be involved.

essays will be judged on the following categories - grammar/spelling, humour, creativity, relativity (to the topic), and general interest.

if you have to bullshit, please don't - but obviously I won't go researching so I guess in the end you can. if you want to include a pic - even better. I will select the top 10 submissions (you have to post them in this thread). Then the CORe will vote for the top 3 and then again for the finalist once the three are picked.

The first round will be until X-mas day.
The second round will go until New Years.
And the last round will be for a week after that.

Submissions so far -

1. Lira
2. D-res
3. jdat

And if this is just plain stupid I apologize. Ready? Set. GO!

Ooh, I like. Dunno if I'd participate or not, but it's definitely a nice idea.

Sounds like a good idea, but I just finished doing 3 2200 word reports for my semester and now I just want to enjoy the holidays.

Basically, I can't be arsed with writing/typing like that again.

come on guys it's 100 words or less, most people do that posting something stupid anyway. at least put your words to good use

exactly, so you have to be creative and not run your mouth off, straight and to the point, it's about 5 sentences.

plus i don't think we have the attention span to go reading through a shitload no matter how interesting the story is. it'll be easier to get everyone involved to judge this.

There's a little something I want to check:

I can write about holidays other than Christmas in the first round, right? I'm assuming that's just the deadline, and that it just happens to be an inspiration for this thread

I'm just waiting to see what happens in the next couple of days. This is the first holiday season that's actually had some sort of EDM impact to it.

1st of January, 2001. 00:01 AM. Brasília, Brazil.

Finally, the new millenium had come. Fireworks, music and lights announced its arrival at the Brazilian Parliament. There I was, jumping on the grass, with thousands of others. Then, the sound speakers blasted a familiar melody. That beat started to control me by my eardrums. We all felt the urge to sing along with the chant. And then, I asked myself...

Who the hell decided that Zombie Nation was a new year's song?!

what, the club ice gig? That was a shit awful gig, horrible performance - and one of the most crowded clubs i've ever been to (probably the most, actually).

now PVD at central park last summer was a whole different story

that's fine, like i said the cut-off is X-mas day, so you can change anything up until then. at that time myra will lock this down and i will pick my 10

Posted by D-res on Dec-19-2006 16:49:

I'm not 21 so huge NYE club parties aren't an option for me. Also, my history of recreational drug use hasn't been going on long or strong enough to have organized something during the last few holiday seasons that would involve EDM plus the mass ingestion of party drugs. I did, however, get drunk with my ex last NYE and I'm sure at some point throughout the night the track "Voyage" by Yahel & Eyal Barkan was played. That was fun for like an hour, and sadly, was probably my most relevant "EDM Holiday" related story.

Maybe this year will be different, even though the only 18+ show going on within reasonable driving distance is ATB...

...Yeah, fuck that. I'll just see what happens.
