What's the best B&W printer out there at a good price? Need to get a printer soon ...

John, what do you want to print? just (borderless or with regular border) 4x6 for snaps or larger prints for fine art as well?

+1

Have the 2010 model. Completely satisfied with it, from quality of printing, easy put together and installation of parts, clearing of paper jams.

my 2010 has never jammed.

also toner refills cost like $8 on ebay and work perfectly.

It just means you're not stupid like me and put stuff on top of the printer and press print

First is true, second is not likely. Not who makes it, where is more important. Look for first letters in serial number. CN china, SG singapure, JP japan, US states. You make the guess which is better.

I love my Samsung Laser (I have a 1710), bought it 2 years ago, gone through about 3 toner refills (5-10$ on ebay) and about 15 000 pages without issue.

china?
everything is made in china

btw the reason it is done that way is that its pretty much a monopoly by 2 printer companies, if each company makes parts for each other then they will never go out of business. Because if one company goes out of business so will the other one for monopolizing the market so its a win win situation.

Very crisp, and prints fast.

another suggestion is never to buy shit in bestbuy/futureshop

overpriced all the time, best deal would be in some small store downtown

Staples, Samsung ML-2510 monochrome laser printer, $79 until Dec. 24. $90 instant rebate, regular price is $169.

25ppm, toner that comes with it has a ~1000 page yield, the ML-2010D3 toner you buy after (~$95) has an approximate 3000 page yield.

Best bang for the buck by far.

{edit} didn't see that the same printer was posted on a Futureshop link earlier. Either way, the printer fucking rules.

price for the printer does not matter
the most important factor is the price of the ink that you have to purchase after

also it is important to be able to purchase a separate ink colour if you want to buy color printer because if you buy a cheap printer that supports "3inks in 1" cartridge and 1 colour runs out you're fucked.

Sure it matters, considering printers don't last very long these days. What if the printer was $1000, but a huge yield catridge/toner was $10? Would you still buy it?

No but if it was a diference between 79 bucks and 120 bucks then yes i would. Printers that are 1000 dollars are not needed for an end user that just wants to print a doc file.
