+1

It is nice to jog outside in the morning, but when it gets as cold as what Zeiter is talking about, treadmills is your friend.

It hurts for me to breathe heavily in cold weather. My entire chest/lungs hurt. Dunno if that's normal or not, but, meh.

I don't jog often enough to have any desire to jog in the winter, although I have been considering hitting up a local golf course and playing a round. The idea of golfing in December in Wisconsin is somewhat mind-boggling but I might as well since it's too mild to snowboard.

Stationary bike or treadmill FTW in the winter, please. Maybe that makes me weak, but I see no sense in being miserable when exercising.

I think it's from that Christmas song... in ex-celsius deo.

Screw expensive winter clothes, just layer
Sports tanktop thingy, three-quarter sleeve zip up, long sleeve zip up, fleece sweater, another sweater.

Plus, you warm up while you jog so you won't need much more than 4-5 layers.

Posted by Yohan on Dec-19-2006 21:59:

Usually some comfy pants, a sweatshirt and a layer of windbreakers plus a toque and gloves.

Might want to invest in some running shoes with good traction if you don't want to slip and crack your head open.

Um, that's an ignorant assumption.

I've jogged when in New Jersey it was 7 degrees out. It was junior year and we jogged up and down the bleachers, I slipped on ice. I've jogged in North Dakota in the dead of winter when it was -15f (Without wind chill).

When you absolutely HAVE to keep a routine for jogging, yes, I think it's worth jogging in -20c, just put a light sweatshirt and sweatpants on, you'll be fine. A cloth that covers your face might be wise, because the circulation stops quickly if it gets too cold. I had one of THESE when I was in North Dakota, so you might want to invest in them.
