Tiesto.

I dont really like this name.
But this is about something else. Does anybody know track from him called "Theme from Norefjell"?? Is it new? Why isnt in his album "In my memory"?

Posted by djcresto on Mar-26-2002 00:14:

it's an old dj tiesto track 98 or 99 I'm not sure

Posted by ExOn on Mar-26-2002 00:34:

Ohhh! Hahahaha it's Trance.nu all over again! Are you really that stupid Miro?

Posted by sykadelik on Mar-26-2002 00:36:

I am interested in your thoughts on why you dislike tiestos name??

Posted by -=K|p|H=- on Mar-26-2002 00:49:

Smiley DJ

theme from norefjell was a song tiesto made for a big party in norefjell in norway (year 99). Norefjell is a ski resort in norway.

Posted by DJMiro on Mar-26-2002 00:56:

I like this track and i am pretty disapointed that it wasnt included in his album. I just watched the video at www.eurodancehits.com

Hey Dj_ExOn you dickhead, how is it going? What is going at trance.nu? I havent been there for long time. Is everything ok without me?

Posted by whiskers on Mar-26-2002 01:23:

Speaking of which... Whatever happened to Trance.nu? Its always down. Whats going on?

Oh and to answer your question, Theme From Norefjell wasnt included on the album because it was too old. Notice the latest singles from his album are Flight 643 and (Sub)Urban Train, both from 2001. I like it better that way. I'm not really impressed when artists dump old (yet classic in some cases) songs on their albums. It should be strictly new material! But thats just me...

Ummm........ tiesto is an amazing name. Im curious though, how do you pronounce Tijs? BTW Raccoon, I agree with you about how artists shouldn't dump old songs onto their own albums.

I think it's pronounced like Ties, but I like calling him Tij . I remember him in an interview saying that he came up with the name by using his first name, then adding an Italian twist to it, and ended up with Tiesto.

I always thought tiesto was a cool name

I heard Tiesto means "pot" in dutch... and that he got it from a pot-factory nearby...

Anyways...ive never liked "theme from norefjell" but i seem to be alone in the world with that point of view

Posted by Porky on Mar-26-2002 07:37:

Cool boo

give the guy some props!

Tiesto's name is synonymous with trance!

Posted by Devbert on Mar-26-2002 07:41:

I always thought "Oakenfold" was a tight name.

PvD and AvB work good as abbreviations, but when you say the full name they sound awkward (Paul van Dyk and Armin van Buuren).

Tiesto is a pretty good DJ name. The bad ones are when they just use DJ and add their first name. Be a little more creative.

Posted by dj_mdma on Mar-26-2002 12:18:

THere was a thread on how to pronounce DJ names a while back.
I think "tijs" was pronounced as "tays" or "tees"
ask a Dutch person!

There was also a thread about a Tiesto interview, which tells u how he got his name Tiesto.

Tiesto means flowerpot in Russian, and Dough in some other language.

Posted by kolkiewolkie on Mar-26-2002 13:56:

as first dutchy, I'm gonna try this....

if you pronounce tijs as ties you come pretty close but EVERY one will know you are american. same goes for tays/tais/tees (allthough these don't come as close as ties).

the problem here is the 'ij' ,which is relatively unknown in foreign countries.... mmmmmm it is like aye aye aye (in american raptunes...)

example: snoop dog - lay low (I don't assume you all know it, but I do)... snoop is saying something like: "... from the worlds most dangerous group, N doubleyou aye aye aye <<==that is it!)

greetz

ps: tiesto does not mean anything in the dutch language and is indeed a mix of tijs and a italian twist.

ps2: I personally LOVE the norjfall theme

L8er

trance.nu is down right now, some problems with the servers i think, but the site will be up in 1-2 days, but the forums, messages etc, won't work until they have fixed it!
