Goa

There is an increased security presence in Goa, particularly in areas frequented by tourists and at the airport. We are keeping the situation under close review.

Whilst Goa is generally a trouble-free destination for tourists there have been incidents of sexual offences against women. Female travellers are advised to observe and respect local dress and customs and not to walk alone on the beaches or village lanes at night.

The Government of Goa has strict rules governing the purchase of property in the state by non-Indian nationals. Please ensure that you are familiar with the provisions of the Foreign Exchange Management Act 1999 and the most recent instructions issued by the Reserve Bank of India before entering into any property purchase agreement. If the purchase is judged to violate local laws, you are likely to lose all the money you have put in to the purchase. It is wise to engage a reputable local lawyer for advice before approaching estate agents or private vendors.

The penalties for trafficking, dealing and using drugs and for paedophile offences are severe.

goa is a region of india if i'm not mistaken. It's on the western coast (maybe even south western) and has gorgeous weather & scenery, plus is where 'goa' trance began. My auntie loves the area & goes at least twice a year to either goa or kerala (which is in the same vicinity)

no worries. I'm not sure if it comes under india at all, im fairly sure it's an ex-portuguese colony though. Standards might not be upto western-world expectations at all times, but if you want heat it's got a good year round climate

Goa is a state of India. Dunno if you guys are aware of it, but goan liquor "feni", made from cashew nut is very popular. It's a pretty intense drink. Very strong taste and high in alcohol content.

well, since trance owes a lot of its existence to the goa movement, I'm pretty sure that even if you don't like it, you should respect it. At least give it that & don't just be one of those gimps who lives in music from 2004 onwards.
