Posted by Revival160 on Dec-22-2006 15:01:

Downtown parking costs more than $300/month.

+1. Even those crackheads you see at Queen & Sherbourne living in shitty group homes pay 500-700 for a closet sized room (granted, they are getting ripped off...).

You also need to be a little more specific about your inquiry- is this temporary housing? do u need a furnished or unfurnished room? etc...

+1 I honestly don't think that could get you a room anywhere, probably 500 minimum if you were lucky thats shared and before utilities

$300 a month is college housing pricing in the niagara region (lower end of the scale!)

TO prices r ridiculous

You're getting closer....
Again-
You also need to be a little more specific about your inquiry- is this temporary housing? 1 yr lease? do u need a furnished or unfurnished room? etc...

Posted by English Rachel on Dec-22-2006 17:18:

Oh poor Minhaj, feel really sorry for you.

I pay $1400 for 700 sq ft - 20 per sq ft - this means you could have 20 sq ft - my den. I'll ask the pets tonight if they will move out but I doubt it...

You should be able to get a room in a decent shared house for that much.... Hopefully.

Posted by rabbitjoker on Dec-22-2006 17:29:

For $500ish you'll get a room in a house with probably 2, 3 or 4 other people.

For $650 to $800 you can maybe get a room-mate in a 2 bedroom place or if you play your cards right you might even be able to find a basement apartment/bachelor for $750 to $800.

$950 to $1250 will get you a you a 1 bedroom flat (+ utilities) or 1 bedroom rental apartment (utilities included).

$1500 to $1700 should get you a 2 bedroom flat (+ utilities) or 2 bedroom rental apartment (utilities included).

--------

Prices are VERY variable depending on neighborhood and condition of property.

For a 9" cock, you'll get a different apartment plus free breakfast every day.*

*But you can forget mine.

EDIT: On a serious note, my landlord is gone till the 12th, I can ask her then if she needs another tenant.

Your chances are also a lot better if you move away from downtown core. Uptown, and farther away you'll find more reasonable prices.

I know a lady who rents out rooms to students for 500 bucks, and thats including furniture, internet and cable. Good luck though bro, its beyong hard to find a place for cheap. I pay 800 for a basement apartment in Woodbridge.

Thankfully im moving away, im sick and tired of 2 hour long waits on saturday/friday night for some Timmies all along highway 7.

Posted by SummerCallin on Dec-22-2006 17:56:

umm u might be able to get an apartment around yonge and eglinton they have some places for 650ish.... u could prolly afford that if u get a roommate, but downtown.... Id say its pretty much impossible =/

The 'rents kick you out for the holidays?

Hmm i think i saw a posting for a locker at union station for about $300 per month.

Posted by StereoPrincess on Dec-22-2006 18:05:

the only way you would be able to get something that cheap is if you lived with some old lady and took care of her dog and yard and house cleaning.

lol, a parking spot somewhere will do.

My cousin was able to get a small apartment along lakeshore for about $500 a month, the only downside was the smell of the lake (in the summer)

On a serious note... you're price range is out there. But its gonna be ghetto.

Posted by Pett on Dec-22-2006 18:53:

my attic is empty, but its unfinished and u gotta climb up through a hole in a closet(little tricky) $300 is just fine.

Extras included:
newspapers from 1960
More insulation than u can shake a stick at (also doubles as blankets)

oh a friend of mine lives in that area and he rented a bachelor for 500$ . So i think for 500 one can get a bachelor. (but in a very fucked up area)

---

My advice for anyone kind of short in money is to move uptown. If they get lucky theyre some unbelievable prices. A friend of mine rented a basement with his own room and kitchen and everything (2 bedroom therefore 2 people) for 300$/month !
