As ULTRA MUSIC FESTIVAL (UMF), the nations premiere electronic music extravaganza, rolls into its ninth year, its producers have announced it will expand into a two-day festival in addition to serving as the official closing festival for the Winter Music Conference. Set for Friday, March 23 and Saturday, March 24, 2007, UMF will return to downtown Miamis beautiful waterfront Bicentennial Park. Tickets go on sale today.

ULTRAs weekend kicks off that Friday afternoon at 4:00 pm and runs until midnight. Appearing over three stages is the festival headliner The CURE along with Tisto (who is slated for a rare live performance), Deep Dish, Shiny Toy Guns and Miss Kittin.

Saturday, the worlds reigning #1 DJ for two consecutive years Paul van Dyk returns with his signature closing set marking his ninth appearance with UMF. Other turntable titans Carl Cox, Erick Morillo, Danny Tenaglia, Ferry Corsten and Richie Hawtin will perform over nine stages from noon until midnight. The complete line-up for both days will be announced at a later date.

Tickets for ULTRA MUSIC FESTIVAL 9 are currently only available as two-day passes at $99.90 for general admission and $350 for VIP, plus tax and fees. VIP includes access to multiple, strategically placed VIP platforms with preferred viewing of UMF stages as well as several designated VIP tents and areas. I was ready to pay the damn $99 but adding some huge service fee on top of that crossed the line. Even though I could probably resell the tickets later on I am not buying them on principle. Screw Ultra.

Dancing Dude YES!!!

I am freaking out that the festival is going to be 2 dayz. Miami is going to be all sun and fun...cannot wait! Anyone have any suggestions for a good hotel? Me and my girls are coming all the way from Montreal for Ultra.

If they book more trance on saturday, i'll buy the 1 day ticket. PVD, Ferry & Carl Cox are great starts. I noticed besides Tiesto, there's not much trance on friday. Saturday looks to be shaping up nicely.

Maybe this 2-day thing will mean more of the stupid raver & touristy types will be off the streets and out of the cool parties for a longer amount of time!
It could have unexpected benefits for those of us not going.

Why?? Are you a redhead or something?

Have you ever been to a festival out of the states bro? Holand, Brazil, Japan, Germany, Mexico, Israel, etc?

Go to those, then say you will never go again. Ultra and GG in the states are a joke compared to those. Votes dont count cause promoters do the voting and what not. Just experience those yourself, then decide. I am going to Ultra, but compared to every other festival ive been to, its nothing. Yea, the artists are global, but the setup, sound, visuals, and all is totally different.

But dont hate all outdoor fests man, way way better then the indoors for the fun aspect of taking in music.

LOL ! I feel ya bro, last Year Trance Energy was the sickest party yet !!! Although you got to admit this ultras line-up is amazing... The states does a pretty good job too with outdoor events..

I'm from Europe (Belgium) and compared to Europe festivals Ultra is unique because of the weather in winter, the palm trees etc
I think all Europeans who know Ultra will dream to go there like me ... I don't know why you say that Europe festivals are better, I've never seen one with a so good lineup
Cheers

Posted by element-y on Dec-28-2006 09:33:

I dunno. I love the effort put into dance valley. For Instance the huge stage Armin played at, the carl cox head, etc. everything is unique unlike the metalic framed stages at Ultra. Also the area where bicentennial and bayfront is construction, where as the grass at dancevalley and mysteryland is kick ass. Also lineup wise... i dunno, depends on music tastes. I am the trance guy and psy guy, so last year ultra didnt do it for me as opposed to holand and brazil etc. for instance i went to xxxperience and that was fun. Rio's 88 thousand person strip is amazing. Full Moon Festival, The Gathering, mysteryland, dancevalley... love all of these. The location, the effort, etc.

And yea lineup in general for all aspects of genres, there are so many stages that sets are so damn short. 55 minutes to 90 minutes avg. The other festivals focus more on nice stages and sound and only have 6 or so as opposed to 9 or what not (tents included).

I went to Belgium on my way to Amsterdam, and wanted to see some vocal trance so bad. Nothing was there when i was damnit. Milk Inc. (wanted to see them for so long - dont care how pre recorded the vocals are), and other vocal artists. Have yet to see ONE! I saw Jes, but she sucks ass and doesnt count haha. IVD, Lasgo, Milk Inc. etc.... ONE DAY!!!

I will be there in March.
First Trance Energy and than flying to Florida.
And I'm going to visit Ultra again and 1 or 2 WMC events.
Last time was 2005, my first Ultra & WMC experience a great experience to see how party life outside Holland is.

I will be staying for 3 or 4 weeks

Don't expect much when it comes to WMC. However, if there IS another Spundae Pool Party, you're coming to it. Maybe I can go for another round of snowboarding by the pool.
