like the tracklists i'll download tomorrow sorry to give you this blueball of a comment
totally irrelevant, but you have the exact same mixer as me
thats some sick setup. straight up leet gear for sure lol. do you use ableton to record?
Oh hell yeah.
I loved your August promo and still listen to it, i'll be grabbing all 3 mixes, will leave feedback for each of them too.
Thanks a bunch guys <3
Btw, I'm planning to use Ableton for loops and sort of as a third turntable. I'm not too handy with the trackpad, so I'm waiting until I buy a midi controller before I really get it going (hopefully this week!).
OK, listened to them all now.
Mix 1 - The way you started the mix off was really well done, the first transition was just fucking amazing, sooo smooth. I felt there were a couple of tunes that felt a bit out of place, first one being Babak Shayan - Believer. Now, this might just be me because I don't really like the tune but I thought it didn't really sit quite right in the mix. The other one that springs to mind was Play Pig towards the end. Again, this is probably just me because I'm used to using it towards the start of my mixes, but it just didn't feel right. These are the only two (and very minor) discrepancies I had with the mix, the rest of it was spot on.
Mix 2 was a lot funkier, had a lot of tracks to really get you dancing. Again, the mixing was really well done. I liked the build up to the end, it rounded the mix off nicely.
Mix 3 definately pulled me in right from the beginning, I am actually in love with Mashtronic so it's certainly a good way to set things off. The mix into Low Frequency was amazing aswell. Similarly to your second mix, this was really funky and I can see people bopping heads and tapping feet for the whole 80 mins this mix lasts.
All in all, fucking good shit!
Heh yeah, I've always used Play Pig strictly to start things off too, but I liked how it worked here. None of my mixes are pre-planned, so sometimes I have to wing it
My own biggest personal gripe is in the third mix. The Emjae track drops the main bassline in around 8 bars too soon. So I made an edit to fix that. Well, I go to mix it here, and the damned Blendbrank track has some damn 8 bar throw-off of it's own. I'd have been better off NOT using my edit, haha. But yeah I thought that transition was kind of weird.
On that note, don't you hate when you're doing that nice long, smooth transition, and the track has some fucking breakdown for 1 or 2 extra bars, totally ruining your phrase matching? The X-One track in the third mix has one of those towards the end, it's really notorious. It doesn't even leave you much track to mix out of after it. I have to do a feedback loop every time (which actually sounded cool, but believe me, mixing feedback loops are scary because if they aren't PERFECTLY in time, they will drift every 2 bars. Ugh).
Still trying to find the time to listen to all these mixes, you're flooding the market!
Well, like most music nerds I don't really leave the house, I just sit around and search for tracks, then mix them.
yeah, you're a good DJ.
after i heard your set on the Bedroom Sessions last week (which was also quite stellar btw) i had to come check these out... and i'm not gonna go into great detail or anything because i just listened to all 3 of these mixes straight-through at work, but i just wanted to let you know that i'll definitely be looking forward to more mixes from you.
