Solarcoaster Remix Idea
Maybe solarcoaster would sound like this if it met 2007? thoughts?
Solarstone - Solarcoaster (Kthought Tribute Cover Remix)

hi there...
to me the kick sounds a little weak and gets kinda underpowered by the bass...don't get me wrong the bassline is very nice...but you might need a subtle sidechaining to get the kick a bit more upfront...otherwise I think it's a well produced tune and sounds really nice...btw...this comes from a strong fan of Solarcoaster...
good luck with it!
...maybe a little delay on the main lead would be good...it sounds a bit sterile now
I'm with Booster on the sidechain/ducking part. I would probably just duck the frequencies below 200hz to give the kick some room.
Might just be the system I'm listening on at the moment but to me it sounds like the high frequencies are eating eachother alive and probably needs some correction.
I can't help but feel that the overall mix has been compressed too much but as I said that could be down to poor quality speakers at the moment.
Overall a nice composition all the same and I find myself being a fan of the general idea.
Nice work, just a few things to look at.
Cheers
Nem
you guys are spot on, nice ears... just purchased a copy of otiumFX Compadre Beatpuncher, maybe... no definitely went a little crazy with it...
lots of stuff is indeed overcompressed, but its just a bad habit i have, usually fixed during the mixdown... the point of posting was mainly to see if the idea would catch, looks like i have my fellow tranceaddicts approval to go ahead with it, which was my main concern, i will definitely be updating the dynamics, effects, and mix. at the moment its very thrown together. the kick and bass are in fact true stereo sidechained, but the sidechain filter is set to all sub frequencies being ducked if you pay attention to the super low end (no need, i just analyzed it) they are indeed sidechained.. i for sure will step up the freqency to about 200 to pull the kick out a little more. im looking forward to updating this for you guys, like i said i was mainly worried about approval!
Cheers till an update comes around!
Hey dude,
Don't worry too much about approval.
If I looked for approval from people I would probably have given up making music before I started.
It's always nice to get good responses though.
With regards to your sidechain, it's really a question of allowing the body of the kick to breakthrough the bass (as I'm sure you know). Might be worth looking it the high end of the kick too usually around 1 to 1.5 to give it some punch. What I sometimes do is creat a notch filter on the other frequencies in that area just to give the kick a little space, it's not always appropriate but I have found some success with it.
Sounds like you have it all under control so I will look forward to the completion.
All the best
Nem
+1 to Nem...
actually that notch filter is a great idea...I always tried subtle sidechaining (and yeah, I can get away with it most of the time) but maybe the notch filter and sidechain only on superlowend would work much better...
well good luck there!
diggin alot
KTHOUGHT FTW
listening now
what youve done with the snare is cool, kick might be a bit low
i dont belive it works as a track because the initial impression was a cheeky club banger and when the riff comes in it becomes a different style
anyway tell me what you think of my latest: http://tranceaddict.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=390950&forumid=74&s=
+ interesting percussion. Like the distortion here. Very raw and kind of industrial.
+ good sounding synths.
- too much reverb on the snare though.
- that final melody synth in the end is too loud.
Keep it up!
