It's a Fine Day idea remix...
first thing i ever post here, aside from the stupid/cheesy track thread.
anyways, found the acapella, started messing around, added a synth or two.
percs definitely need some work. want to give them a little techier edge.
but this is what came out after some mucking around
click me
worth finishing?
I like the stutters you did with the vocals! Do you mind if i could get the acapella as well?
i kinda like the percs and the overall laid-back feel of it, don't like the stutters on the vocal. nice staby(?) sound starting around 1:00
a nice bassline would really give more groove to this sample.
worth finishing imo
i want the vocals
Love it
send it to zabiela

SAY NO TO FILESHARING
pm me and i'll get you guys the acapella
i like everything except the vocal stuttering...work on that, and add a bassline.
i say finish
I could be wrong, but I think the vocal stuttering is a tad overdone. Don't get rid of it... but don't beat it to death.
more specifically about the stutter: I think it interrupts the flow of what you have going on there...like, rythmically it doesn't feel like it fits that well. I think thats what would be meant by "overdone".
But yes, definitely worth finishing...there's a nice mellow atmosphere to it
sounds cool! get the shuttering vocal in beat an it would sound alot better and yes a nice smooth cool bass would top it all of, i likey

yeah, i know what you guys mean. i'm just having a little trouble perfectly timing the vocals, since i don't have the original tempo. closest i got to it is 125bpm, which seems to work, but it also appears to fluctuate, as she is not amachine, she is a human singer. hrm.
*goes back to work*
it is good - just the stuttering of vocals i am not following....
Like I've said before in the hundreds of glitch-related threads, the wholesale usage of the Glitch plugin in tracks is painfully obvious. Good stutter edits really have to be done with purpose and tact. You can't just start with the premise of "I want to glitch this up" and proceed randomly from there - it has to be more of an "I want to surprise the listener and/or create tension in this spot, so let's use the vocal as a rhythmic element" kind of thing. No offense meant and I'm sorry if there's any taken.
The atmosphere's pretty good in other respects. There are already so many remixes of this track though...
don't know how that could offend someone. and yeah, i did just throw it in Glitch and tweak a setting or two. doesn't necessarily mean i'd keep it that way. Glitch isn't 100% random, and can be quite controllable to get a specific effect if used properly, but yeah, i get where you're coming from. in any case, that's def. not how the vocals are staying (notice how i cut out the preamble to the lines "[its going to be a] fine night tonight..." and "[la la la la la]wee la la la", as i was looking to just feel myself into the tempo, and try to keymatch a line or two to the vocals).
i want my end result to be a track that works by itself, or perhaps with a vocal sample or two, and can also work as a full vocal mix.
call me whatever, but it's nice to make a track that while still yours, has the power to make someone just jump up and recognize it... i know this comes from Hawkshaw's work and not mine, but it's still something i want to take some advantage of. it helps get your name out there a bit i guess, when it comes to playing it out some day.

Haha, don't misunderstand the comment about the number of remixes - the number of existing remixes doesn't make a new one any less worthwhile, it just makes it harder to get objective feedback on since it will inevitably get compared with all the other remixes.
As for Glitch, it's not random in the literal sense but it is probablistic which relies on random numbers. Anyway, it's okay to do this for drums in some situations - if I'm bored or lazy I might let Glitch run for about 5 minutes on a drumloop and take whatever cuts sound good, usually ranging from 16th-note lengths to quarter notes. Even then I'll usually tweak some effects while it's running and apply a lot of post-processing afterwards.
But there's a reason you can pretty much never get a good effect using Glitch on vocals, which is that vocals [usually] aren't precisely timed to the beat. For that kind of source material, you really have to seek out the transients with your own eyes and perform the stutters with audio splices. I suppose you don't *have* to, but... it just doesn't make aural sense to have precisely timed effects on non-precise source material. It's okay with gates, but usually that's with long oohs and aahs, not a rhythmic vocal line, so you don't feel the timing differences so much.
Your call of course, I'd personally start over with the vocals.
Like the the stutters, just as everyone said it would be alot sicker if the stutters had more rythmic order. I love the melodic feel at 2:35 as well. this tune is definately worth finishing imo...
Nice idea. but i think the glitching gets annoying at times, a bit too much of it.
I think it would sound better if only small sections of the vocals where glitched at certain parts of the track.
Btw. thanks for the idea. Im heading up for a remix of this one myself. Just gotta obtain the vocals first
