Question for those that know about Oldsmobile Aleros

I'm trying to prove my friend is lying to me.......

She has an Alero & tried to tell me that she left her phone in her car so it could charge on the car charger the whole night. I don't think that will work if the car is off.

Yes or no.

Thanks!

I need to know for certain before I call her a liar.

It will work.

The car does not have to be on. It only needs to be plugged into the cigarette lighter outlet.

I used to do that when my wall charger broke and I was too cheap to buy another one.

It depends on the car. Some manufacturers leave the outlet wired directly to the battery, others require the auxiliary power to be on to run the outlet. I know my current Dodge has two outlets, one that stays on constantly and one that doesn't. My GMC truck did not do that in any of the outlets though (it had three), so I would guess that it most likely won't since Oldsmobile is a GM vehicle.

that works on a lot of american vehicles...not so much in my japanese imports, though.
