Pitch?

Hi, i was just listening to a Paul Van Dyk set and he played Oceanlab - Satellite (Alx Odden Flipside Vocal Remix). But it was different then the version in that the voice was at a higher pitch. Does he do this using his mixer or what?

probably used a program such as ableton, or the pitch control on a cdj/tt...as far as i know, the mixer does not have pitch changing capabilities.

Probably just playing the record at a higher speed, which is done by moving the pitch fader up + on your cdjs or turntables.

i find sometimes a record has more bite if it's pitched up

goes off huge in the club

call on me was a perfect example of that

people would scream bloody murder if call on me wasn't played, fuck i hate that song

but you have to give the crowd what they want, a good time

I found the same thing with Alter ego - Rocker. At it's original speed it's slow as hell but really went off when you played it in a set at a higher pitch.

Cheers
Nem

Hammer & Bennet (Santiago nino dub tech remix). Don't like it at 130bpm, so i pitch it up with aprox 8%, sounds great

unfortunately i started partyin and listenin to edm only a few years ago so i completey missed out on lots of good tunes when they first came out, i like call on me so i play it when i spin at my house or friends houses but i saw the reaction of the crowd one day when someone played it...u could tell alot of people were tired of hearin it...u just gotta remember, it might be old to u but it could be new to someone else...

audioholics - external key
hammer & bennet - language
santiago nino - believe
simon & shaker - zero
sun decade - have it all (thomas penten dub)
loving arms (shultz)
cara dillon - black is the colour
paco - electronic electro

Just a few examples of progg house and trance tunes that need at least 4+ pitch to come alive
