Well of cours his tapes will sound good.
Hw is using a DAT tape.
Which is digital and almost every way you set the EQ will sound good.
DAT's are usually very expensive, there are some by Sony and Denon, but the best one to my opinion is by Tascam.
Anyway visit This site for more info.

The best setting to have your EQs at is 12 12 12 and the gain set so that it bounces on 0dB! The only time you should need to adjust the EQs are when youre mixing the two records together or doing a trick or effect.

You can't have a DAT tape without a DAT tape-recorder! it's like trying to put a CD on a turntable and hoping it will work. They are two completely different things. If you want to do this, you will have to get a DAT recorder, and believe me they are not cheap. You would probably be better off hooking your mixer up to your PC and recording it with SoundForge or something. It's not better or worse quality than DAT; both are digital.

Correction:
CD = 44.1 khz
max for DAT = 48 khz

So you can get better quality out of DAT
