Posted this in the roll call with a few other reviews - thought I should post in its proper place.

As usual The Zone delivered a solid New Years Day. We arrived around noon to the heatwave at the front door and once the coatcheck wait was over we settled into a nice eight and a half hour shift. Music was amazing and the crowd was friendly. Nice to see some famaliar TA's there and of course, meet some new ones. Magikb - it was a pleasure partying with you - sorry we left so quickly - once we had enough we just had to get out. Nada - always smiling and dancing - nice to see you again too. Jon - thanks for the hookup with the tickets - sorry I didn't get to say hi inside.
Probably won't be back for a while since the Zone is a "once-in-a-while" treat...I am already looking forward to next time.

dance2dabeat - how could I forget - I guess it was because we were not in the ladies room laughing at the janitor

Carlo Lio amazing!! ...str8 bangin energetic set ....and Simon Jain was on fire in the Silver dollar upstairs....I was very impressed with his sounds!!!

I spent my nyd in excellent company with good friends----it was really nice meeting you Sheldon

wow, what do you say after you spend a 16 hour marathon day at the Zone.. lol

I will say that it was definitely worth the lineup and the heat which didn't bother me as much as I thought it would.
But thanks to the lineup outside, I miss the Vinyl Junkies set. I only managed to catch the last track of the set.. booo

Nathan Barato and Carlo Lio definitely owned Zone for the day! I had heard it Barato was gonna be good and after hearing him Saturday @ Gallery I still wasn't prepared for his set @ CZ Nothing but insane dirty beatz.. I honestly don't think I stopped moving during Barato's set. My face was as red as a tomato once I did finally take a break (Angelo, thank you for the water when I needed it the most) I heard many songs played more than once, but I didn't seem to mind. And I will say that Deko-ze sets at zone > all others.

I had excellent company throughtout the whole day. Nada, Remi, Sasha, Tyler, Sheldon, Angelo, Andrea, Katy, Shelley, Josh, Justin, Peter, Ann, Jon Jon (from behind the booth...lol), Michelle it was a pleasure meeting you and your bf , and to anyone else I may have forgotten.. Thanks for a great start to 2007.

Yeah i was saying that this year i'm not exited about new years the whole week before, because every year i do soemthing special or go soemwere new this year was like almost every weekend hang out with kelly and go to a local venue, but oh boy was this new years a wikkid time seriosuly nothing but fond memories and good time with great ppl. It all started thursday with a great Ta meet up at the rude native in waterloo then friday some quality drinking at starlight saturday alicia hush and likwid J at lan sang lounge, saturday was amazing with kelly and her friends at her place and then cozo was a total surprise i was expecting it to be totally out of hand and ppl pass out on the floor total chaos but as Tyler said then the roll call thread they were trying their best to keep the place in one piece.
Great seeing everyone it's you guys that made my new years although some ppl should have stayed longer ....uhh Sasha, kelly i'll be your body guard any day and fight off sketchbags lol <3, as for the music ... it was off when me and kelly walked in and it went off once or twice more during the night(?), as for the Dj's i have to say i was most impressed with Peter. P and Nathan Barto although kelly might disagree with me here cuz some of his tracks were different i really enjoyed his set, since i was beat from the nights before of heavy drinking didn't make it past 5:30 but yeah ...i was soooo tired after the new years bender that i too don't feel bad about not missing C&C

p.s HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE UP NEST FOOTWORKS FOR JUSTIN LONG <3

understatement of the year lol

p.s lil G ...the sketchy glasses were an amazing addition to the zone NYD experience

The Zone is the only place I went to for New Years other then a hour at a small lounge for the ball drop. Got there at about 7am and stayed till almost close. They had a sick lineup and the beats upstairs were almost as good as the ones downstairs. I rocked out hard, danced my ass off, and had a great time.

The place had a awesome vibe and everyone was really friendly.
Best Zone experience to date.

what an an awesome time!!

Wow...this new years party was jumbo/LARGE for sure!! I had SUCH a good time!!

I'm writing up a full review with some stealth pix... so i'll hold off on the details, but wanted to say: MagikB, IllNada, Jon Jon, you ROCK. Had such a good time dancin' it up with MagikB through the entire day, wicked energy from all three of you. And the last track Nathan dropped (or second last) before passing to Carlo...was Carlo's track?! Nice!

Full review coming...! Ohh...the stories....

i just wanna say thanks to each and every single person at zone in making today quite possibly one of the best club main events i have seen put togather in To. seeing the reputation the zone follows, how smoothly everything went and how organized it was, i am impressed. new paint job in washrooms. toilets fixed. there were people walking around picking up trash all the time. it was just really good to see everyone work as 1 team to make our experience so enjoyble even though going in didnt expect much.

from set times to line-ups(mind you they were HUGE, but they were fair) to all the djs playing and all the zone staff inside and outside ... ThankYOU!!!

and ofcourse the small but yet the most wonderful group of ppl i was with. Nada, Sasha, Josh, Kelly, Justin, Shelley, Jenn & Jenn, Kris, Graham, Peter, JonJon, Ang, Ann and anyone else that i may seem to be forgetting right now. and what a pleasent surprise from Katie hun you were having a blast. seeing you dance up a storm with like the biggest smile on your face was really kool. all of you guys are awesome!!!

sets of the day that i heard ... Nathan takes 1st spot. the junkies number 2 and Simon Jain upsatirs sits at number 3.

best moment at the zone was right in the very begining of VJ's set when Till There Was You was played. everyone singing and jumping around ... well you know how the zone has low ceilings in certain areas ... ummm yea guess what happened when i jumped

best thought of the day ... Lightshow & The Neon Alien.
yea don't ask

best quote of the day ... not a FULL one, jus a HALF one lolz

a day well spent among good friends and fa kin su pah tunes!!!

The "3-song rule" means it's time to go home...

Once you've heard the same song, 3 times - you've been at the club too long and it's time to go home.

Cool taken from the zone roll call that turned into a review

Nathan played a druggy, more soundscape of set to follow Presta. Crowd ate it up... really created more of a (from what I felt LOST) vibe after Presta.

HOWEVER (don't tell Nathan) the set for me goes to Carlo today. Just hammered that place. Bravo.

(haha this is going to have to be put into a review thread, or I bet this gets put on lockdown because of me putting a review in here)

I had a very good time at The Zone on New Year's Day. The best sets were played by Joee Cons and Nathan Barato. I wasn't too impressed by Peter Presta. He started off well, but the tribal got a boring and felt like it was just prodding on after about 30 minutes into his set.

As far as the party and vibe goes, I agree with Nada that the Zone lacked that crazyness that I love until Nathan started. I think the hype of the crazyness of New Year's Day was a bit overhyped. I've definately had crazier days at the Zone.

One suggestion I have for next year is maybe having different music upstairs. I felt every time that I went upstairs, the music had the same sound as the music downstairs. It would have been nice to hear a little bit more variety.

That rule is not in effect on NYD because we needed to hear it three times before we knew for sure that it was "the song of the day"

K-os - Sunday Morning (remix?)

The remix is made by two locals boys (help?), and this track is going to be facking massive, it's so well put together. It was Carlo who played it, opened with it I believe...
