Ex-cop plans video on how to hide drugs
December 22, 2006
TYLER, Texas --A one-time Texas drug agent described by his former boss as perhaps the best narcotics officer in the country plans to market a how-to video on concealing drugs and fooling police.
Barry Cooper, who has worked for small police departments in East Texas, plans to launch a Web site next week where he will sell his video, "Never Get Busted Again," the Tyler Morning Telegraph reported in its online edition Thursday.
A promotional video says Cooper will show viewers how to "conceal their stash," "avoid narcotics profiling" and "fool canines every time."
Cooper, who said he favors the legalization of marijuana, made the video in part because he believes the nation's fight against drugs is a waste of resources. Busting marijuana users fills up prisons with nonviolent offenders, he said.
"My main motivation in all of this is to teach Americans their civil liberties and what drives me in this is injustice and unfairness in our system," Cooper told the newspaper.
Cooper said his Web site should be operating by Tuesday.
As a drug officer, Cooper said, he made more than 800 drug arrests and seized more than 50 vehicles and $500,000 in cash and assets.
"He was even better than he says he was," said Tom Finley, Cooper's former boss on a West Texas drug task force and now a private investigator in Midland. "He was probably the best narcotics officer in the state and maybe the country during his time with the task force."
News of the video has angered authorities, including Richard Sanders, an agent with the Tyler Drug Enforcement Agency. Sanders said he plans to investigate whether the video violates any laws.
"It outrages me personally as I'm sure it does any officer that has sworn an oath to uphold the laws of this state, and nation," Sanders said. "It is clear that his whole deal is to make money and he has found some sort of scheme, but for him to go to the dark side and do this is infuriating."
Smith County Deputy Constable Mark Waters, a narcotics officer, said the video is insulting to law enforcement officials.
"This is a slap in the face to all that we do to uphold the laws and keep the public safe," he said.

Any thoughts on this??? A former drug cop who's seen the light and decided to switch sides? Sounds a bit too good to be true, even though I really do hope he's for real. Or could this be some kind of drug warrior trap intended to trick naive users into doing things that will increase their chances of being busted? I've heard that the anarchist cookbook was actually written by a CIA agent so that any potential revolutionaries would actually blow themselves up if they tried any of the "recipes" in there. Same thing? I'd especially be interested in hearing from anyone who's actually seen this video. Check out his website at http://www.nevergetbusted.com
Just drop it out the window when making a turn. Hiding it in the car is for dumbazzes who like going to jail.
Yeah, but how many crackheads are going too be browsing the internet looking for ways how not to get busted... guess that just leaves the college students
I cant wait to pirate it
F the man
I agree with you on the whole set up thing. Though it might not be intentional cops are going to see the video and check every place that was talked about. stuff like this is how ridiculous and unortahdoxed laws are passed. I wouldnt be surprised if a law is passed to make impounding cars that much easier. Anyone who is thought to be a drug dealer will have his or her car impounded for further search and possible seizure. Thanks a lot jackass!LOL
Yeah, by publishing this good knowledge (if he's not complete bullshit that is) out in the open to make big $, he's pretty much shot the whole purpose of this video in the foot. And northing's stopping a particularly vicious arm of repression like the DEA from just tracking where each dvd is mailed to. Thanks a lot guy! Some of the first people to order this will probably be a police department near you. But I'd still like to see it 'cause there could be good basic knowledge in there anyway. And maybe those of us who don't live in the U.S. will have less to fear about our local uniformed thugs getting their hands on this video.

Smoke marijuana and ur on the dark side!!!

What the old school DEA agents won't accept is that their drug war will never be won. There are too many people and too much money. It can never be done. The worst thing the government could actually do to the illegal drug market is to legalize at least marijuana, and take the commerce away from the criminals and into a safe regulated trade. The prices would fall eventually. The reason why the illegal drug trade has become so lucrative is because of all the money.
