It hurts so bad, I have never bruised a nail before, will it go away like a normal bruise? I hope so, this sucks and it hurts!

let's tell all of our ouchie stories!

Suck it up soldier!

Don't worry it'll go away soon =p

Depending how large the bruise is, you may lose the nail. If it's not too bad, the dead tissue will just grow out as your nail grows...but it'll take forEVERRRRRRR.

When I was a little kid, I slammed a car door on my middle finger. And of course, with my luck, the door was locked, so I couldn't get it open. My mom had already started walking toward the store, and by the time I started yelling for her, she was far enough away not to realize what was going on. Even after she realized, she panicked and couldn't find her keys. And this was before the little unlock button -- she had to actually put the key in to unlock it. lol. My finger was probably in there for a good minute or more.

My mom made me soak the finger in ice water for like a half hour... but yeah, I lost the nail.

If the nail is still intact, you won't lose it. However, it's going to hurt for good week, before you start to lose discomfort and swelling. Keep it under ice, as often as possible. Take care.

Sad

It's in the bottom right corner and it's getting purple the more my shift at work goes by, and it hurts like fuk! And yeah, it will totally take forever! Damnit it to bits, I am so pissed and that door hurt like hell!

Funny you say that. When I was about 4-5 years old, I slammed my thumb in the car door, and it happened to be locked, just like yours. I started flipping out and my brother came running over to see what happened. He tried openning the door, and realized it had been locked, so had to run to the other side of the car, crawl in from the drivers seat and back to where I was, unlock it, and push it open.

I lost my thumb nail...

I've lost a lot of nails growing up... it's always gross. If you hit it hard enough, you may lose the nail.

Try to keep your finger still, and try not to apply any pressure to the bruised finger, unless you're a freak for pain.

I'm glad you don't live with me, or else you'd probably trip over my cat, and injure yourself and her, badly.

sorry to hear that, gotta hurt

when I was a little kid (8 or 9), I saw my first stapler. I decided to see if any staples would come out so I put my finger in the stapler and pressed... when I pulled the finger out, I was surprised to find a staple securely embedded in the flesh. It didn't hurt or anything, but I realized I did something very wrong. I went to my dad and he looked at me like He just took my finger and pulled the staple out, and it bled a little and then hurt some. My dad told me that my head was hollow

I was sitting down by an exercycle and spinning the pedals and grinding graham crackers up in the spot between the gears and my finger got too close and it ripped the top 1/4 inch of my finger off. I ran down the hallway whipping my hand back and forth spraying blood over the walls. It looked like a horror flick.

I dont remember what happened after that but I have a white ring around my pointer finger now where it had to regrow

I sorta visualized that in my head, and I'm stuck between and .

I lost a toenail when a block of wood dropped on it, but that was when I was a weean.
I lost my fingernail a few months ago when I jammed it while slamming a gate shut.
They take a few months to grow back to normal.

I once slipped on a wet nightclub dancefloor. I couldn't see anything, because it was very dark. As I slipped and fell, there was glass on the floor, the glass dug bone-deep into my right index finger. Nothing worse, than watching the skin from the finger flap off the joints.

at least it's the pinky finger, with the smallest nail on my hand that's the only bright side!
