Extrawelt - 8000
I was just wondering, would this be the kind of track you would consider closer to "real trance" like it originally sounded? Sure it's listed under "techno" @ beatport, but still...
I mean, there's hardly any breakdowns in this track, it just evolves and introduces the different elements slowly but surely, to form kind of a melodic picture late in the track...i hope you know what i mean...thoughts?
Yes.
Extrawelt are definitely part of the whole early 90's trance revival added to the mid-00's minimal/electro trendiness.
We are not talking about "crappy dutch/uplifting/anthem-in search of sunrise-trance" here.
They are part of Border Community, a label which tends to specialize lately in that new sound.
I definitely consider this to be trancey, but a new (its actually a renaissance) genre of trance.
I'd liken it far more to trance than to the current labels it gets such as techno/minimal.
There's tonnes of cracking melodies in it without sounding like the dated trance sound i've come to hate.
trance is on it's way back big time
Cool
I would really love to hear more music like this, anyone have any recommendations? Labels? Artists?
Thanks in advance...
well it's definitely more trance than techno. but in some modern minimal plinky-plonky way. it's not as entrancing as old classic pre'96 trance but it's certainly good.
my favourite extrawelt track from last year was fernweh, but this one is also cool.
about recommendations, this is not official genre so you can't expect loads of people doing this stuff, but you can check out some songs from kaito, the mfa, extrawelt, booka shade and some others.
also, there is topic about neo-trance so you can look out there for possible recs.
^^this post wins the topic.
It is definitely techno and not trance but yes it is definitely closer to the original trance than say the stuff that is called trance today.
Thanks guys!

| On other artists, check out Dominik Eulberg. Most of his productions are Tech House/Minimal (according to Beatport) but his most recent track definitely has that old trance feel to it. |

I love Bionik. A lot of producers, I think, would fall into that category as of late. What about Guy Gerber, Shlomi Aber, and a little bit of Tigerskin?

i reckon cocoon captures the sound perfectly..

| It doesn't sound at all like original trance...it's more of a blend between minimal and some trancey atmosphere. I even bought this track recently because I though it was good while I wouldn't buy (or listen to) any trance. |
