How is life, with a roommate?

So, here it begins...

I'm looking to move back to FL, within the next month or so. I found a place to live. Nonetheless, I'm going to have a roommate - a female roommate. We spoke on the phone, making arrangements - we got along rather well, so far. This is going to be strange, because this is going to be my first time, ever having a roommate.

So, I suppose my question is, "How is life, with a roommate?"

Your thoughts...

There are two positive routes.

Either you and her become super close friends (what happened to me with one of my female roomates)

or

Youi guys both live completely separate lives and only talk when necessary. not a loving relationship, but you respect each others space and dont get in the way.

My other female roomy went crazy and now hates both of us and her and the other girl had been best friends since kindergarten.

She's taken, so no issues there.

From firsthand experience, I concur. However, she and I are still 'just friends'.

Note, my roommate is also my girlfriend.

Depends on the roommate.

You and Clovis moved in together?

I have had mostly girls as room mates over the years.

Got along super well with a couple of the girls, later when they moved out this new girl totally ignored me and when she left this one guy ignored me.

Never had problems with roomies but not being friends can be a biatch.

My roomie now is a guy, and he and I get along really well. Prior to him, I had had several female roomies and they all sucked.

It really depends if you are both adults and can work things out when there are problems.

I've had both girl and guy roomates. I find that guys are A LOT easier to live with...however the ones I have had have always been really messy.

Girls get offended at the littlest things though.

It pretty much depends on how chill the person is.

I live with my friend from high school...and while most of the time things are ok, we still get on each other's nerves. Helps that she's at her bf's most of the time

Jesus fucking Christ. English CAN'T be your first language. Seriously, you need to learn how to properly use commas. It's embarrassing.

Who are you talking too, Jenny?

I've had female roommates ever since I arrived in the US. We've been together since our first year at Stanford. We totally love each other, best friends and all that. I think when you have more than one, it's important not to get involved in arguments between the others. But you're only going to have one so that advice wouldn't really apply.

Wash dishes often, even if it seems like you're doing more than your fair share, don't leave crap all over and I bet things will be wonderful.

it'll be a blast....if she's cool. if not, it'll be the worst time of your life.

I lived w/ one of my best friends for a year during college, and seriously, that was one of the best times of my college career. Both of our personalities i think meshed really good....and we got along together great. she was thinking about coming to live down here w/ me....but she got a decent job back up north and wants to stick with [i was kinda disappointed, but oh well].

so yeah, if you can really get along, it seriously will be a blast.

The thread starter.

I think it's better if she is single, too (aside from obvious reasons). The drama that accompanies some couples is a pain in the ass to live with. Especially, if the boyfriend spends most of the time at your apartment. It's never fun having an extra, unofficial roomate.

And, for Jenny:

I, think, it's, better, if, she, is, single, too, (aside, from, obvious, reasons). The, drama, that, accompanies, some, couples, is, a, pain, in, the, ass, to, live, with. Especially, if, the, boyfriend, spends, most, of, the, time, at, your, apartment. It's, never, fun, having, an, extra, unofficial, roomate.

where are you moving to in fla and how did you find the roommate?

Spice things up by walking from the shower to the bedroom naked, pooping with the door open, wax your underarms, buy her a big dog, watch gay porn with her, have a party & lock her out of the house, become a drunk, invite grandma to stay for a few months, wash your feet in the kitchen sink, invite her into your room for a 10 Oclock meeting and then tell her off for being late, turn the television over to the cartoon network everytime she wants to watch a soap opera, staple sardine to the underside of her bed frame, phone her up to tell her that you are wearing her panties by mistake, when you are introduced to her boyfriend say "a bit of competition is healthy", if she accidently farts in your company pretend to enjoy the aroma and start snorting the air

extra unofficial room mates really do suck. That's going to be your biggest issue
