Swedish House vs French House

Swedish House or France House

Swedish Team:
- Axwell sample
- Eric Prydz sample
- Sebastian Ingrosso sample
- Steve Angello sample

French Team:
- David Guetta sample
- Martin Solveig sample
- Bob Sinclar sample
- Joachim Garraud sample

Nice topic, I am a bit biased but I do prefer the Swedish counterpart. Although the french one got me truly hooked on house.

They are nothing but French house.

Prefer Swedish a hundred more times then French House.

I find Sinclar & Guetta too commercial and I find Solveigs music sounds like the soundtrack from one of Dad's 70's porn VHS's.

How can you mention French house without mentioning Daft Punk?

Posted by medinaM5 on Jan-08-2007 17:23:

hard to compare the 2

Posted by Ian on Jan-08-2007 17:25:

french house by a long way. swedish music is best with trance

Posted by d-miurge on Jan-08-2007 17:46:

French House is Daft Punk, Alex Gopher, Etienne de Crcy, Motorbass, or even the new things coming on Ed Banger Records, like Justice...
Joachim Garraud makes more swedish sound imho.

swedish trance? like basshunter

no srsly.. I dont think that swedish trance scene producer wise is that great.. Okay they have Airbase who seems to be pretty popular on these boards.. and then ofcourse Antiloop used to make some pretty nice stuff..

is envio from sweden? anyway I think none of these make sweden as a good "trance" country

I think sweden is best known for their techno
and in the past few years their house production has pretty much taken over the world..

back to the topic: I would choose french house from the beginnning (when god created the earth ) until about 2003

and from 2003 - today swedish house all the way

Posted by ZeJayMan on Jan-08-2007 18:30:

Funny thing is I always though Solveig was swedish. Hmmm. Or at least Scandanavian.

And you can't forget about big hitter Francois K(evorkian). He's french born. Stunning DJ.

the french struff i can tolerate for more than five minutes. sweedish house is discochainsaw music.

You're ignorant, ever heard of Vibrasphere, Son Kite, Ticon, Gaudium, Human Blue, 12 Moons, S-Range, Chromosome, Atmos, Robert Leiner aka The Source Experience, etc, etc?

Stardust - Music Sounds Better With You
Galleon - So I Begin
Etienne De Crecy - Am I Wrong
Cassius - The Sound Of Violence
Benjamin Diamond - Little Scare
Jean Jacques Smoothie - 2 People (Mirwais Extended Mix)

...thats why French House is better

How can you guys forget about Sebastien Leger for the French, and John Dahlback for the Swedish.

By far the best 2 producers out of all the above mentioned.

Posted by medinaM5 on Jan-08-2007 19:09:

John Dahlback is money, good call

Posted by PEZ68 on Jan-08-2007 19:46:

I hardly listen to any of them but I like some French Touch artists like Cassius , Etienne de Crcy or Bangalter

Posted by trancedanne on Jan-08-2007 19:51:

swedish house all the fucking way

Posted by noikeee on Jan-08-2007 20:32:

I'm undecided. France has some fantastic artists who put out brilliant soulful music, but they've also given birth to some of the biggest piles of shit in the history of dance music. As for Sweden, it seems to be a more recent phenomenon, and while they sometimes make top stuff (usually by Prydz and John Dahlback), most of it is pretty average.

edit: woah, one of the acts I was thinking of regarding "biggest piles of shit in history" is actually swedish, my bad. Alcazar

Bob Sinclar makes it even in terms of piles of shit.

They are the same person, and they are Scottish.

Yeah I've heard from most of them, I really dig Ticon and I think that I made my point the wrong way: I didnt mean to bash swedish trance scene, I just wanted to say that sweden is so much more known for their techno & house scenes and their trance scene is relativelly small when compared to those.

But no one was talking about what Sweden is most known for or which scene is the biggest.
