Since there isnt a russian subforum...

Im curious if any of the ruski's that browse this place listen to russian music? Cause I stumbled upon this guy Gregory Leps, apparently hes pretty famous but whatever, and im really digging this guy. Anyone here know of any good russian singers similar to him?

Aight, thx, ill definitely give it a listen.

Its more like music that older russian folk would be listening to, which tends to be like rock/pop.

Shufutinskiy or Shuftinskiy. and check out russian section on allofmp3. If you like russian rock, have a listen to Agata Kristi (opium & Thriller albums are my faves), B2, etc. Of course, such classics like "Kino - Gruppa Krovi" or "Nautilus Pompilius" (pre 1990's) are not to be missed.

For real LOL check out Serega. Oh, and in case you did not know Bobina is a russian EDM act

"Brat" soundtracks are just awesome, both of them

Also some suggestions, Lube, Zemfira are definitely worth checking out

dunno, Lube and Zemfira are toooo pop-ey IMHO. Zemfira is just friggin weird - and her singing is not for everyone.

Chizh is kinda cool but again - probably not for everyone. Stay away from Mumiy Troll - what a bunch of friggin weirdos, annoying as f*ck!

If you like "blatniye" pesni, tipa Shufutinsky - check out Lesopoval, Tokaryev, Vysotskiy.

HiFi are pretty cool (tho definitely on Pop side). Give Picnic a listen - not for everyone but they are legends of russian prog rock - really really really good! My personal favorite of theirs is "There on the edge of the earth" (tam na samom na kraju zemli). Check this out: http://www.piknik.info/VIDEO/

Akvarium, Mashina Vremeni, DDT - "old school russian rock".

Here's something you might enjoy (trancey pop, with really juicy bassline):
Irakli - Kapli Absenta (Andrei Harchenko Remix)
and
Irakli - London Paris (trance remix)

njoy

Don't count out Splin!

One of my old teachers at Stony Brook is the main guy character in this music video. It was so weird when he showed the video on the last day of class.

well a friend of mine listens to DDT, Kino (KUHO), Agata Kristi, but I myself dislike everything what's associated with russian culture, therefor I cannot state my opinion

It's every Russian grandmas favourite word too! If you didn't speak Russian and just looked at the way they use it, you'd assume it was some mystical boogeyman that flies in through half-opened windows and steals small children.

Rules on the addition of new regional forums:

As forum members are often requesting regional forums for their area's, we have set out the following criteria that must be met. Please make sure that you have met the below criteria before 'formerly' asking for a forum to be made.

1) Active users. You need 20 (minimum) active users to have a forum created for that region.

2) They all need to come from the same country. Regional forums are created for users from a particular country/region, not because they all speak the same language. We've often had requests for a forum based on x amount of people all speaking the same language, but living in 10 different countries. This is not what regional forums are about. They are about discussing local events, meet ups, whats going on generally in ur region/country. This doesnt work if you all come from different countries.

3) Moderators. Moderators have the fun task of keeping the forum functioning, with sticky threads (like this one), behaviour moderating and all that. If you have a new forum, you will more than likely make a moderator. Please wait until your forum is flurishing with active threads and active posters before trying to decide on a moderator. In the past some members have tried to elect a mod before the forum is even made. To elect a mod, once the forum is up and running please make a thread, and all people who wish to be a mod nominates themselves. Once all the nominations have been registered, make a poll listing them all and leave it upto your forum gathering to decide a new mod. If none of the current mods can prove he/she would be an unwise candidate for the forum, they shall be granted modship.

I think thats about it, hopfully it'll clear up the unwritten (until now) on new forum and only have genuine, and prepared cases for new forums in here.

roll call we need 20 of peeps who actually live there. sadly i just visit for the summers now.
