thanx for the advice RJ
yeah so it dawned on me i ahve been smoking since grade 10 and your what 16 in grade so this would have been my 8th year smoking and that's just gross no more !
You can pay me $1000 and I will punch you in the goddamn face every time you even think about lighting one up.
I was able to quit smoking because, at one of my first parties i smoked so many damn cigs that i burned my mouth and my throught. So after that i couldnt smoke for almost a week. I was going through withdrawls and cravings.. specialy around dinner time and all that. But half way thought that week, i decided that i will be strong and kick the habit for good And i did. I didnt touch a cigarette for almost 6 months after that. Now i can enjoy a smoke or 2 with a drink or when im on vacation, but i never let it get to an addiction stage.
I went to a medical conference thing a while ago and saw a healthy lung. Right beside it in a glass jar, was a lung of a 10 year smoker. It was pretty nasty.

Once you quit you will feel so much better... Enjoying a smoke free life is amazing. No cravings, no smell, no need to freeze you ass outside in the winter, you feel better.
I love smoking but i just made the choice to stop.
You need to do the same.
Maybe start doing some cardio (not dancing in a club). That way it will give you an actual reason to not smoke.

Smoke a whole pack to yourself one after another until the whole 25 is gone. Then you will think twice.
Q: Does your gf smoke?

i got of it by joining a gym with a trainer, never felt better i quit in 2005!
Try not to hang out with smoker friends when they say lets go for a smoke, just decline and say i am going to get something to eat, eat healthy and when urges occur drink water lots of it!
For me the real cravings went away in 4-5 days. Afterwards it was more in my head, so it wasnt that hard.

wow kinda glad i saw this post
my new years resolution was to quit smoking too. i have been smoking since 16 and now im 23..7 years of smoking... ive tried so many times in the past to quit smoking and its lasted 2-3 days max..as of today im smoke free for 10 days. the first few days was hard i must admit..i went out and bought some small Colts cigars, and had 2 since then....but that was around new years time. i get a craving once in a while but i just chew gum.. and i must agree its 100% in your head.. alot of my friends smoke around me and i just tell them " i dont need one" when they offer me one...u need to really make your self belive that you dont need to smoke

i also share the same goal for this year. I have still been smoking while going out drinking, but ive been trying really hard not to smoke durring the week. Some days are harder then others, but last night i caved in and had one, and after told myself how gross it was and made myself feel really guilty for having one. Beat yourself up over it whenever you wanna have one/do have one. gum is my new best friend
go team no smoking!
I smoked for 10 years and the 14th January will be my 2 year anniversary of being a non-smoker.
Giving up smoking was the hardest thing I have ever done. I lost my short-term memory for six months, so much so that it had a massively negative impact on my business life (I learnt to write EVERYTHING down) and I was very sick for that period of time too, a perpetual cold despite looking after myself; I didn't get the health benefits that the literature promised and to be honest, halfway through I felt like I wanted to scream, "Why didn't you tell me it was going to be this hard!". But, and I am being totally honest here, it was the most pride-inducing thing I have ever done, even more than moving to Canada on my own.
I suppose what I am saying is, there is no better feeling than accomplishing something that you perceived to be almost impossible.
I wish you all the strength, support and success in the world with this.
