When the lyrics say one thing and you hear something different...

When I'm listening to a song and I know what the lyrics are *supposed* to be and I hear something different, that pisses me off. And then I wonder, why the hell didn't they just go back and fix this? Or am I really the only one that hears the difference? The problem is, enunciation gets distorted heavily in singing.

Let's take the following song for example...

Tiesto (apparently) and feat. Cassandra Fox - Touch Me

Okay, various lyric sites (and I know they can be inaccurate) state the lyrics as:

i'll take your love and i'll take my chances
I'll take them with you

What do I hear EVERY time in EVERY mix though?

I'll tape it with you

Damn that fucking P sound DAMMIT! Fucking ENUNCIATE THAT 'K' DAMMIT! Totally takes me out of the song... [/rant]

it could be for the lack of audio quality of the rip and your ear not being trained.. you dont konw how much i bug out when i see the words for some of the songs that i thought i knew, for example K&A - Are you Fine..

oh and btw
tiesto has nothing to do with touch me

it's Cassandra Fox - Touch Me (Mike Koglin vs. Jono Grant Remix)

Posted by Loignite on Jan-11-2007 06:06:

Yep! That's what it's listed as in this tracklist here...

01. Cassandra Fox - Touch Me (Mike Koglin vs. Jono Grant remix)

But the lyric site lists it under DJ Tiesto, which I always thought was wrong, hence the apparently part of my post. Anyway -- I don't think it's my hearing, because when you know what to listen for, you sometimes "think" you are hearing it. So it's like, "Oh, this says such and such" when it really doesn't, but that's what you hear because you're told.

In this case, I heard the lyrics fine before even looking up the lyrics -- but I always got to the "I'll tape it with you" part and thought, "What the hell? That doesn't make any sense."

No, this is Rui Da Silva feat. Cassandra - Touch Me (Original Mix), of which the mike koglin track vs. jono grant track is a remake.

It was popularized on ISOS 2 I believe, hence the threadstarter's confusion with regard to mr verwest.

ok, after that PSA, back to your regular programming...

LMAO, one of my friends thought the line "Excuse me, while I kiss the sky" (Jimi Hendrix) was actually "Excuse me, while I kiss this guy."

Quite a young age, but still

I'm sure nobody else ever heard it that way.

Its on purpose for the purpose of flow/rhythm/andormystery.

Are you living under a rock or something?

sorry you're wrong still.

a remake (including a remake of Cass Fox's vocals) has just been released in the UK under "Cass Fox - Touch Me" LINK
of which koglin & grant remixed.

slight technicality

It isn't beat, and anyone who says otherwise has misheard. "Only take beat" is gibberish. The actual line is "You only take heed when you need to", and is a pun on "I only take weed when I need to", from Insomnia by Faithless (Maxi Jazz is one of the three main members of Faithless).

"You only take heed when you need to?"

When you see Tiesto in Concert the megatron screens say "Listen up................ YOU ONLY TAKE BEAT WHEN YOU NEED TOO..."

I totally agree it sounds much like heed.... but wtf is up with the lyrical megatron?

Could it be "you only take heat when you need to??"

heat referrign to ecstacy??

Posted by SYSTEM-J on Jan-12-2007 13:03:

Possibly- I haven't heard the track for a while, but it's probably just a typo by whoever wrote the screen. Maxi Jazz isn't one to write whatever-fits lyrics.

One of my mates used to hate Bob Marley because she thought for years he was sexist: #No woman, no crime.#

Amoeba Assasin - Piledriver (Grayed Out Mix)

the whole track is a mess
