-- I miss snow!

Sad I miss snow!

isn't there some country ruled by a sadistic despot leader that owns some secretive weather machine that we can use? maybe the US?

global warming ftl.

Posted by butterfly on Jan-14-2007 09:54:

if you find a weather machine, send it to tahoe because we are hurting out here.

Posted by Sushipunk on Jan-14-2007 09:57:

I have only seen snow twice in my life. Once in Amsterdam in 2000, and once in Lancaster, UK, in 2001. Both times there was ONLY JUST enough snow to make a few snowballs.

And do you have any idea how excited I was by that?

EDIT: It's 8pm here in Brisbane, and approx. 27 degrees celcius (80 deg. Farenheit)

i'm right on top of that, rose!

whatcha doin in tahoe? vaca?

Posted by SebG on Jan-14-2007 10:02:

Global warming has nothing to do with eastcoast not getting snow.

If global warming was an issue, there wouldnt be any snowstorms in the central US and the slow coast.

Its the El nino or whatever the jet stream is called that is at fault.

wow. i can't tell you how much i take snowfall for granted now. i'm 25 but i still feel like a kid everytime it snows.. 3 years or so ago i experienced my first white christmas (god that sounds like a good porn movie title..) and it was fucking great. i had 40 relatives at my house and no one could go home til like 4am usually when it snows, everyone here always freaks out like omgaaaaaah how'm gonna get to [work/bank/store/etc]!!!!!!!!...kind of annoying how people can't just chill....i wish people would see it like "sweet, now i just gotta chill at home and watch the snowfall. awesome."

one year, the electricity went out for 56 hours when i was about 10. it wasn't wintertime or anything but, it was just as awesome as a blizzard (almost)

not that i really wanna get into it at all, but are you by chance one of those people who doesn't believe in global warming or just calls it climate change?

Posted by LuNaSeA on Jan-14-2007 10:14:

oooo just checked out the weather channel and around the 23rd we're supposed to get snow!

....but they're usually wrong anyways.

Take pictures of snow and post them

The next time it snows here will be the next ice age. Winter is great here though, average daytime temp at about 21 deg. celcius (69 Farenheit). The fucking summer though...can everyone say HUMIDFUCKINGKILLME

haha that was so cheesy i lol'd.

i do want to experience one hot christmas tho it's always been my dream to come to Oz in december/jan for a month. my dad actually spent most of his youth in Oz, in adelaide..(i've never been..yet.) he always loved the weather down there and would have still lived there were it not for the vietnam war draft forcing him to escape the country and subsequently move to the US. (it's really quite weird having to thank the vietnam war for my existence )

Fuck, I think Adelaide will get hotter than here in the summer. Less humidity though, and frankly that's the killer.

On the upside though, Brisbane gets WICKED ASS electrical storms in the summer, from the hot/humid days. Hammering rain, harsh winds, hail, and all the fun stuff Love it

ps, forecasting for central texas sucks ass.

i had to issue lightning warnings and freezing precip warnings for the same fucking station!!!!

and tonight (and tomorrow night)? i have to forecast for northwest louisiana....which is going to be getting the same shit texas did....just two days later.

i fucking hate winter. i hate snow. i hate freezing rain. i hate it all. i'll take tornadoes, derechoes, microbursts, MCCs, hurricanes....basically any other season over this shit.

i was so happy to move to the south. and now this shit happens.

fucking dammit.

I woke up to snow.

That is all.

Posted by Ojay on Jan-14-2007 20:16:

I do expect two things from winter:

Extremely cold but sunny days (yes, these days are extremely clear and bright - very nice). Also such a deep freeze would kill all moscitoes and wasps around so that you would not get problems with them next summer...

Heavy snowfall for one day and the accompanied total silence outdoors. Unbelievable soft and fresh snow and a silence you did not even know that it could exist ....

Here in Europe we did not have both things. We did not even have frosty nights with freezing water up to now. I hope for a few cold days in February ...

yea this lack of snow is starting to suck...

we need alot of snow
