Enron: The Smartest Guys In The Room
Anyone seen this movie?
I watched it last night, and it was pretty informative. got a bit confusing at times, but once you sit back and think about it, it all comes together.
It's insane how much money these guys basically stole from stock holders with their scams. The California energy situation was just ridiculous. Its unbelievable that they got a way with it for so long. And Can you believe at one point they were trying to find a way to trade weather on the stock market? LOL
Its definitely worth checking out if you're interested in finding out what exactly went on at Enron.
damn, nobody eh? lol
guess not a lot of people care about the biggest corporate fraud of the century.
Here's the trailer if any lurkers, etc. that are interested:

I think Lay + team are fucking awesome. haha Edit: As if Lay dies of a heart attack whilst on holiday before his sentence is to start. HAH CAN YOU SAY FAKE DEATH!? |
I really want to see this, yes. Part of me thinks that it tied in far too nicely with SOX - I think it is a bit too much of a coincidence that EVERYONE is moving towards Sarbannes-Oxley reporting and internal auditing principles following the scandal.
Just the conspiracy theorist in me.

The problem with that movie is that it disparages ALL derivatives trading, not merely the unscrupulous acts at Enron.
In reality, derivatives trading can be a really amazing way to hedge against risk.
