Why would you downgrade and why would you want to play mp3s in the first place? Some venues do have setups which dont support mp3 so why risk it?

Exactly, unless he doesn't plan to play in any clubs. The CDJ 200s are fine for a home set up.

Stay with the 800s.

MP3 might sound convenient but... no good DJ has a CD with 100 MP3's on it -- usually it's around 3-5 tracks per disc. You can still download MP3's, just burn them as audio CD.

Yeah I find it hard enough with 8 tracks per cd...it'd be impossible if I had much more than that.

i will trade you straight up.
my 200s pretty good condition for your 800s.
well, what condition are they in?

Keep the 800's. I have 800MK2s which support mp3, but I found that there was an audible difference between mp3 and the same mp3 burned as an audio CD. It probably has to do with the decoding, since it has to be fast enough (at the sacrifice of quality) to replenish the internal buffer.

I burn audio CDs.

I'd keep the 800s; there's no reason to downgrade, save for the 0.02% pitch resolution, which may or may not be relevant when playing mp3 discs anyway.

The two most popular at the moment are Rane's Serato Scratch Live or M-Audio's Conectiv with Torq.

It's software with a hardware interface. Google it for some pictures and prices.
