Doh! At least a couple weeks, maybe sooner. You can expedite it too. Mine came in 10 days shortly after 9/11. I was impressed.

There's still time...hurry!

great!!!. how come i didn't know about this, the flyer says +nescafe is presenting. +nescafe is an EDM tv show here in mexico, so maybe they'll be recording for the show.

i am there!!

Posted by skell on Jan-18-2007 09:05:

I was wrong...you're still in luck with no passport!

Effective January 23, 2007, all U.S. citizens traveling by air to and from the Caribbean, Bermuda, Panama, Mexico and Canada are required to have a valid passport to enter or re-enter the United States. As early as January 1, 2008, U.S. citizens traveling between the United States and the Caribbean, Bermuda, Panama, Mexico and Canada by land or sea (including ferries), may be required to present a valid U.S. passport or other documents as determined by the Department of Homeland Security.

Still have until 2008 by land.

its approx $175 to get it in 2 weeks. otherwise its $97 and it can take up to 8 weeks.

Posted by DaveT on Jan-18-2007 19:03:

Actually, believe that $175 to get in one day...if you have a local passport office.

But you must be travelling within two weeks to be able to get the passport within one day. And you usually have to show proof you are travelling within two weeks. They didn't ask me when I got it rushed (was flying to Japan), but they did ask for a workmates of mine and verified his flight. Heh.

You don't need a passport to cross from Mexico to San Diego. This recent article may shed some light.

I am so there with my friend.

Posted by bigperf on Jan-18-2007 21:33:

last nite i was going to ask those first few posters why they would fly from LA to TJ(since they said they needed a passport)

i was trying to post last nite to just travel by land because u didnt need the passport that way but the forums were being maintained. i go to rosarito all the time. passports wont be needed until probably 2009 if u go by land.

'tis correct!

"New rules going into effect Jan. 23 that require U.S., Mexican and Canadian residents to present a passport to enter or re-enter the United States at airports have thrown Baja California's tourism industry into a tizzy.

Although the new rules currently apply only to those arriving by air, many U.S. citizens living in Baja California or those planning to visit the region mistakenly believe they now must show a passport to enter and re-enter the United States through the land ports of entry.

Existing rules are expected to remain in effect for arrivals by sea and at land border crossings until June 2009. "

I got mine in 10 days, non-expedited. I guess I lucked out. ;]

I believe my friend had his expedited and had it in under a week.

*shrug*

All I know is, if you get a new passport, smash it well with a hammer. Fuck that RFID chip they put in it now. Talk about creepy.

Nah, it says TJ. I left him a message about being confirmed for that night. Still waiting to hear back. Anyone else have info on this?
