The Tiesto report from Sao Paulo, Brazil
Greetings,
Friday afternoon here, and I returned at 6:30am this morning from Tiesto's Thursday gig @ The Week: www.theweek.com.br. I have to say that Tiesto has been improving lately, I would rate his set a 7-8 out of 10. (It takes a lot for me to give a 9 or 10 rating).
I don't have a tracklist for you sorry, but the selection was overall decent. I'd say he peaked around 2 hours into his set, then lost me for a while, but brought me back in.
The venue was way oversold. The place has a configuration in the main room very similar to Space Miami, with a side room with sound, and huge outdoor patio. I'd say the place had capacity for a few thousand, but there were close to 10k crammed in there...
The amazing thing is we arrived at 1am and it was already jammed to capacity. Tiesto came on at 2:45, we left 5:30, and still as packed as when we arrived. And this a Thursday! This place is nuts!
I didn't take pics because I didn't want to deal with a camera (packed like a sardine)
Saturday I will DJ my 3rd time here..woohoo!
Also any DJs thinking of visiting Brazil who would like to DJ let me know. Some friends and I exploring throwing some parties at some clubs in the next few months.
sounds like things are going great down there for ya! glad to hear.
Ugh I have to work today too...only 4 hrs sleep and my ears are ringing :|
The main thing is I am with my gf, but work here is tough. There are a lot more opportunities for DJing and promoting - it's wide open. might as well try to get some experience in it before we move to CA next year...
totally true! good luck with it all and hope ya get where ya want to with it!
Fupaking, what do you do down there in Brazil?
TSG, check your PM
Brazil
fupaking - I was going to make a trip down to Rio in Brazil this upcoming May...but I keep reading about all the crime and danger of Brazil lately. Do you know anything about that? Is it really safe for someone who's never been there before?
man I nearly freaked yesterday the cleaning lady threw out my technics headphone adaptor! luckily I found at a musc store...
found out that Braziliand like their music a little harder...stuff like Mojaod goes over well.
Vixydish-
Don't worry about the things lately in the news. Yes there have been some attacks on buses, but it's largely isolated. If you go to Rio, just make sure you stay within a few blocks of the beach when walking around town (except for going out to specific places, tourist sites), only bring the cash you need to the beach, no valuables. Try to call for a taxi if possoble, rather than catching in the street - but it's genreally ok. If you come in May, I think Skol Beats is the first weekend in May (In Sao Paulo), and I am hearing some names already, one of which would probably make DaveT jealous. But I won't say, cause I don't want to be wrong! Sao Paulo probalby is not on your list, but it has better night life, food. Also the better EDM scene is here.
Let me know if you need more help on Brazil.
