Review: Lexicon Avenue at Sonic

C'mon people.

Tell me how much it was good and how I missed out.

Posted by DigDeep on Jan-21-2007 21:51:

Brad Copeland was fantastic, and it was easily the best crowd I have seen at Sonic since the opening.

Unfortunately, my night was cut shorter than I would have liked.

Great seeing everyone out lastnight, and Happy Birthday once again to Mr. Shanny.

everybody is still @ the zone ?

Posted by infinity HiGH on Jan-21-2007 21:56:

I have zero complaints.

Only pissed that because of going outside for smokes I am now sick...but then again I get to watch the Bears-Saints game instead so w00t!

Seriously though, awesome awesome party. Absolutely nothing like what the recent Sonic thread talked about. Like Button mentioned, the crowd was just awesome. The amount was perfect, and everyone was there to party.

Easily my best time at Sonic, even though I've only been there a few times.

After a night of bar/club hopping me and my buddy found ourselves at sonic around 3am, i had totally forgot that Lexicon Avenue was there. Heard some great banging electroish/proggy tunes too bad we left due to the lack of females...It didnt seem that packed either.

Sure you were at the right party?

All I can say is... . Soon.

Posted by musicsnob_NOT on Jan-21-2007 23:29:

I don't know why but I was really looking forward to this party. I hadn't heard too much of Lexicon Avenue prior to the booking, I was really sick for the last week and a half, and it couldn't have come at a worse time for work, but despite all of that I still had high expectations.

It was easily one of the best nights I have had at Sonic. Music was great, although at times it was a little too minimal to keep me on the dance floor but that gave me time to sit which helped since I was still feeling a bit sick.

A lot of TA's out to have a good time and it looked like everyone was really into it. Crowd was what it should be, a little bit of everything, str8, gay, male, female, all doing their own thing while not ruining other peoples fun.

Had to leave just before 7AM for work commitments, would have loved to stay to the end.

lol you sure you went to sonic?

Posted by English Rachel on Jan-22-2007 01:18:

There definitely wasn't a lack of females...

Fabulous tunes from Brad and Lexicon Avenue. Thanks to Scott too, he let me take a picture of him and shanny for his birthday.

The crowd was just as amazing as the tunes last night and that is saying something.

Brilliant, truly brilliant!

Hurry back Lexicon Avenue, Toronto <3 s you!

Hands down best time I have had a Sonic..

The crowd was decent.. some lurkers. Staring is not the way to a woman's heart.

The tunes were fantastic.. Graham and I were on the same page for the entire party.

Lucky Heather - mind explosion.. I wish I was better at the track ID game. There was a song around 7:30 that was the moment of the night for me.

Great group of people out for Mr. Josh's birthday.. everyone was in a good mood and ready to have a good time.

Fuad was a nice surprise at the pre-party and Kevin the floor calls she misses you...

My first time @ Sonic what can I say about it.........

Very good sound system, Massive disco ball (although I have seen bigger) and pretty cool lighting.

More clubs should open at 1am, I like that idea.

Was nice to check it out but I found the place abit too serious imo

All i have to say is WOW what an awsome night, haven't really listend to Lexicon Avenue before but oh boy were they great, great track selection and a great night musical and vibe wise, i loved how closer to the end the music kept getting harder and harder i think they wanted to make sure no one had any energy left when they left the club they sure kicked my ass i'm so sore Lexicon Ave 1 Sketchbag 0.
I dunno what it was but Brads set didn't do it for me it started of good but as it went on i found myself less and less amused. Happy bday again Josh Highlight of the night definatly was Shanny and RJ dancing with their shirts off on the back stage lol so random hahahah. Suprise of the night Dan showing up it's been too long since we kicked it in Toronto Great seeing all the ToTa's u guys rock can't wait for the next one, Rj is my hero this weekend lol @ randon convos. Overall like everytime i've been Sonic i danced till my bum knees gave out last night definatly was one for the record books 9/10

lol...well i was partyin with a crew of 8 girls before, they didnt want to come to sonic with us. I was also quite boozed so my attempt for meetin new people was not going so well. To drunk to start interisting coherent conversations, is a more accurate description of why i left within 40mins..lol

I wish i could have stayed to hear the harder beats in the early morning.

I had a great time. It was awesome seeing a lot of people that I haven't seen in so long. Got to chat it up and catch up with so many! The music I wish was a little harder, but I still had lots of fun. Danced it up hard a few times, and just hung out with everyone. So awesome! Happy Birthday again Josh! I hope you had lots of fun! Richard Taylor, awesome to talk to you man. It's been super long! Great to see you Dannie, always so much friggin fun, your awesome! Drew, totally hilarious times man! "boo boo bee bee boooo!" haha! Katarina! holy crappers! I haven't seen you in like 2 years! WOW! We have to hang out again! Totally miss you! Cribby, chris, "how did you like it?" but I thought you said something TOTALLY different! sorry! lol! It wasn't the typical night for me haha. Thanks to Brant for driving my car back from Toronto like always. It was a night for the books for sure.

well I don't fell so bad after reading these reviews for missing Lexicon Aveneue... I do however hope they come back soon as they are on my list of must sees.

Sounds like it was a great night regardless of what tunes were playing, good people, good venue = good times.

Posted by disko-kandi on Jan-22-2007 05:12:

so sorry guys that i had to leave so abruptly without saying my good-byes but i had the worst cramps that my calves locked up. i was in so much pain! ... despite that torture, it was super nice seeing you all again!!

p.s. Brad played real nice! Solid dj that never disappoints.

Bahahaha I have to admit, I'd never heard of Lexicon Avenue before this event. I've seen the name pop up here and there, but didn't know much about (them?). I was listening to a few sets last weekend - due to Grinder - and now I can't stop. I really wish I coulda gone to this party

So I had two firsts on Saturday night; it was my first time to Sonic and my first night out with all the TAs.
Sonic was a lot nicer than I thought it would be but I think I will keep spending my saturday nights out at the Guv, I just really love that place.
But what really made my night was the people. It was nice meeting so many of you, everyone was very welcoming. Frank thanks for "being my husband" and waiting around for me all night. Graham it was great to finally meet you and thanks for getting my night going and dragging my ass out to the dance floor. RJ thanks for the tour, Margaret, Shelley, Dan, Peter and everyone else thanks for hanging out with me. Justin, Shanny and Tyler it was nice seeing you guys again. Hopefully I will see everyone again soon.
-Tanya
