Rasta Birthday

Just had my 21st birthday and my girlfriend made me a Pioneer 800, check it out...

Ate most of it in about 10 minutes :-D

On another note, went to a club and got to know the manager who's gonna give a me a chance to spin for a bit one night as a birthday present. Any suggestions on making Demo cd to see if I can possibly land a gig here? Do I squeeze the build up into 30 minutes, or play the high energy part of the set or what? BTW I spin electro & progressive house privately.

This is my first opportunity to get my foot in the door so any help is appreciated.

happy birthday man. nice cake .

as far as your gig, this could be your gateway to more gigs so try as best you can to impress. Try to play for the crowd. Read them like a bitch. Try to get them to dance but don't bust out some super duper crazy good electro stuff if the aren't ready for it. kind of hard when you only got 30 mins.

on the other hand, you can always play the stuff you want and if people don't like it and they approach you asking you to play something else, just say, "get out my face, dis stay my b-day set." they'll understand

is it a set(Static) 30 minute time frame? Or if you go with a really good build up, are they really gonna stop you while the whole group is dancing? If another dj (who's sharing his time for your b-day) plays the same kind of music, you might talk to him and be able to play longer. This could make a big difference in what to play! If they are dying for more, I wouldn't come unprepared! (boy scout motto you know!) =p

It sounded static. I have to talk to him tomorrow and he made it sound like I would get a weekend night but I would bet its not going to be a prime time for me to play considering he has NEVER heard anything from me. But hey, you never know.
