DTS Entertainment Releases Groundbreaking Work By BT

This Binary Universe CD / DVD Called "the First Major Electronic Work of the New Millennium"

PR for: DTS Home and Car

+++Sample Here+++

Agoura Hills, CA DTS Entertainment, the entertainment label of DTS, Inc. (Nasdaq: DTSI), today announced an August 29th street date for This Binary Universe, the newest release from legendary musician/composer/producer BT. A groundbreaking two-disc set that is part record, part short film series, the CD / DVD combines seven unique tracks composed in 5.1-channel surround sound fused with stunning animations by some of todays finest computer artists and animators. This Binary Universe is a journey of sight and sound, on the artistic and technological cutting edge of both music and animation.

Stephen Fortner, Technical Editor at Keyboard Magazine, has called This Binary Universe fine art that works on many levels, mind-bendingly deep but a pleasure to kick back and just listen to. In a hundred years, it could well be studied as the first major electronic work of the new millennium. Its that good.

This Binary Universe unifies the two genres for which BT is most well known: electronic music and film scoring. Varying from lo-fi classical pieces with jazz chord structures to glitch and IDM-influenced micro-rhythmic, introspective, electronic tone poems, BT utilizes hand-designed digital instruments alongside a broad range of analog musical instruments to create a work that defies classification. Additionally, all of the animations have been created in high definition, allowing the album to be shown in cinemas in full resolution with a 5.1-channel soundtrack, as well as providing the option to utilize the content in the next generation high definition optical disc formats, Blu-ray Disc and HD DVD.

This Binary Universe is a completely original work that is a perfect marriage of category-defying music with amazing visuals, all enhanced by the DTS 5.1-channel soundtrack which completely envelops the listener, said Molly Kronberg, Vice President, Worldwide Strategic Business, Content, at DTS. This work of art represents the kind of cutting edge titles that DTS Entertainment is working to release in the future.

BT will support the release of This Binary Universe with a North American tour in September, on which he will perform the title live in 5.1-channel surround sound at alternative venues around the country.

About BT
Recognized as the pioneer of the trance music genre, BT has evolved into one of the most visionary artists and producers for a multitude of musical styles. Whether composing intricate scores with 80-piece orchestras for blockbuster films such as The Fast And The Furious, Stealth, and the Oscar-winner Monster, writing and producing for Sting, David Bowie or Peter Gabriel, or remixing evocative epics for Sarah McLaughlin, Madonna or Seal, BT crafts classically-influenced, electronic overtures ringing with dense textures. Consistently balancing creative and memorable songwriting with sonic innovation and hand-designed technologies and software tools, BT created the epic albums IMA, ESCM, Movement In Still Life and Emotional Technology, which give testament to his innovation.

It's the album you will hear as you enter the stage of eternal life.

You're welcome Jon. I know there are some people out there who seek more than basic 4/4

amazing album/dvd. love it.

EDIT: that interview up there is pretty good too... its amazing how much thought and emotion he put into this album. great stuff.

Looking at picking this up, pretty incredible.

I saw a long in-depth interview with BT the other day about this. Seems incredibly fascinating.

I love the fact that he had to sell his own car and equipment to get the video into theaters: that shows true passion.

Edit: side note, can't wait for Stutter-Edit to be released

For those interested, there is a big thread on this in the CD Reviews section:

BT is by far one of the most talented composers of our generation.

The guy is absolutely brilliant and (IMO) is one of the few artists that actually progress music (on par with Brian Eno and Daniel Lanois during the mid/late-70s and early 80s).

The man evolves music, not just creates it.

Good for Brian!

Further...

My brother has had a (brief) chance to work with him on film stuff and says that the guy is absolutely above and beyond anything he has ever seen.

I think I may purchase this and head to my parents with their 42" LCD + full surround system.

And then watch it again on my (pending) 24" iMac w/ studio monitors to see the difference.

I hear the sound is out of this world.

very dreamy album. love to turn the lights off, lay down on my bed and play this baby on my ipod

I don't doubt that this is a masterpiece, even though I have yet to hear it. It's been on my list ever since it came out, and the fact that it's in 5.1 makes me want it even more.

I'll have to finally pick it up sometime.

Wow....that interview is great to listen to. I'm very interested in picking this up. Thanks for posting.

Picked up this CD just after it came out..absolutely love it!

BT is so awesome...I hope he comes back (and actually makes it to Guv!) soon.

my vote for top album of 2006.

a classic album with beautiful melodies. this album will be relevant 30yrs from now.

10/10

I'm a huge BT fan, and I really like the genre that he went towards for this album, but I thought the album itself was a bit over rated.

Posted by djbruuen on Jan-23-2007 14:04:

i had the opportunity to hear this ablum, and very very cool stuff! great melodies.

I haven't heard it on 5.1 yet, but just hearing it on stereo, i can tell how amazing this will sound on 5.1, so i must make that happen. You can hear the special care BT took to make sure the right sound is coming through the right speaker.

Posted by mute79 on Jan-23-2007 17:17:

love that interview... always been a BT fan... i'll check this out for sure!
