Timeslots at next gig

Hello guys,

I'm doing my first EDM gig with multiple DJs:

http://www.tranceaddict.com/forums/...d=&pagenumber=5

The event is 6 hours long, so we are going to divvy up the time that we are spinning into 6 1-hour slots. Each of us will come on to do a "warm-up" set, and then each of us will play a "peak time" set to end the night.

Any suggestions on making a smooth transition when the DJ before he leaves (I'm currently going second after Carl)? Should I try to match his last record with my first, or should I just do a quick cut (since he'll be playing Hip-Hop for his first hour). Has anything come up for you while doing a gig like this that I should be aware of?

Thanks again for all the help!

For new years I went to this private party. It was local but real fantastic. The first DJ played a mix of hiphop and MOS sounding house. Towards the end of her set she focused more on the house stuff, and it all really blended absolutely fine. Right after that, the peakhour DJ got on, turned off her shit, stood there for a lil bit, which got everyone wonderin, and then moved into a real sick intro mix. It was nice. I never thought hip-hop to house to trance would sound good at all, but in the end it worked out just great.

So my advice would be let his last track play out, stop the music for a few seconds, and then drop a massive intro mix that will make the cut in energy all worth the wait for your dance floor.

I actually had to do this just once...the thing was that I was playing from laptop (with midi controllers) and the guy before from turntables ... I've let his track play out and then put on a real cheesey sirene sample...and dropped my first tracks intro...then quickly switched to a more energetic part...worked good
