Posted by distant on Jan-23-2007 19:47:

Same goes for tubularbills. Twat.

Posted by Ygrene on Jan-23-2007 19:49:

I'm surprised you can hear them, being that far away.

badum tsh!

Pretty bad. Sorry.

You know, you can adjust the settings in your browser. Just a thought.

Posted by lcid on Jan-23-2007 19:51:

seriously... i agree. stuff like that should be disabled on these forums.

embedded sound/video might be the most annoying shit on the internet these days. i also get the feeling that the people that overuse stuff like that are the ones who have nothing clever to say.

Jake - any idea how to disable that in Firefox?

Posted by idoru on Jan-23-2007 19:52:

Someone mentioned how to do it in the Coachella thread.

1. That would mean I would have to stop my music, mute my speakers, go back and read that thread all over again.

2. ...which I did. And I'm not getting a fuckin' plugin.

Will's clips were only like 10 seconds long, but when it's a whole damn song, then it's annoying.

EXTREMEly annoying.

Posted by pvdAngel on Jan-23-2007 20:00:

Links to a sound file is fine, but don't embed any more. I'm getting fed up having to close my media players every time there's one.

No, they're all annoying. Just one is a little bit more annoying than the other.

Posted by Omega_M on Jan-23-2007 20:01:

Or when there's 10 clips on a page that start playing automatically. Now that's fucking annoying.

Posted by Frenchie on Jan-23-2007 20:02:

It also Sketches me out when I don't know where the music is coming from....

Posted by idoru on Jan-23-2007 20:04:

This is another reason why I don't like Myspace. The few times I browse the system, someone's music ends up playing loud over what I'm listening to.

Posted by Omega_M on Jan-23-2007 20:04:

someone had posted "ban this sum bitch right now !"

that was fucking annoying.

That was tubularbills. He fuckin' did it like 5 times in different threads, too. Shit like this is the equivalent of someone walking up to me in the mall and yelling me right in the fuckin' ear.

Posted by lcid on Jan-23-2007 20:08:

since the general consensus is that sound clips that play automatically are freakin' annoying, i'll be editing any posts i see with stuff like that, and handing out warnings and/or suspensions to those who feel the need to do it in excess.

if you're one of those people who posts that kind of stuff, please stop.

how about youtube ones, which don't autostart, allowing the person to click them if they wish or not ?

stuff like that i think is fine, since people who are browsing the forums have the ability to choose whether they want to view it or not... i'm mainly just referring to stuff that auto-plays.

An addendum to lcid's reply, Swamper also allowed html to be embedded in the c0r. Banning/suspending people because they suddenly embed html would be rather stupid.

good point, although i totally agree with lucid about videos / music that autoplays when you open a thread

I think the rule should be, embedding is fine as long as its not autostart upon opening of a thread. people viewing a thread should have the option to play said file or not.
