best software/ hardware package

what is the best software/hardware package to run from my laptop to my 800s to allow me to become digital and what are the price ranges

< $5 for a cable to connect your mixer to your soundcard line in. =P

What's wrong with your 800s? CDs not doing it for you?

Serato.

$450-$550 USD.

first of all im assuming that you are talking about the pioneer CDJ-800s. if so, guess what... you are already digital. CDs are digital media, therefore you are playing digital music.

so what exactly are you trying to accomplish? do you want to get into live sequencing, do you want to play mp3s from your computer and control them with your CDJs, or are you just trying to record a set?

"to allow me to become digital" doesnt really give us a whole lot of information, unless of course you are trying to find a way into the matrix.

Torq by M-Audio. Cheaper than Serato, more options, and, so far, completely stable.

this could work any any mixer?
and sound card that has a line in

ok cool, my recommendation would be serato. I've used all 3 (serato, torque, and final scratch) and serato is my bread n butta.

all you need for serato is a 2-ch mixer with 2 line inputs per channel. the sound card is only for recording your mixes, since serato comes with its own proprietary USB interface.

+1

Haha, okay, obviously this could start a whole interface war so I recommend you just do some research online. Go to each of the manufacturers websites. Check out the capabilities of each, and go from there. Even though I have Torq, I do agree that Serato is the club standard but I think the playing field will narrow as time goes by.

but money wise which one is the best quality for its capabilities
