OBEY TRAFFIC LAWS or else!!!

Updating on traffic Violation Fines

1. Car-pool lane? The 1st time $1068.50 starting 1/1/07 (Not $271, posted on the highway is old).
Don't do it again because the 2nd time is going to be double.

The 3rd time triple and the 4th time license suspended.

2. Incorrect lane change $380. Don't cross lane on solid lanes or intersection.

3. Block intersection $485

4. Driving on the shoulder $450

5. Cell phone on the construction zone - Double fine

6. Passengers over 18 not on the seatbelts - both passengers and driver get tickets.

7. Speeders can only drive 3 miles above the limit.

- A classmate drove 71 MPH on 65 mph zone and got ticket.

8. DUI = JAIL

thanks for the heads up, especially that seatbelt one. i do think its ridiculous that everyone gets a ticket for someone not wearing a seatbelt. either way if that ever happens in my car, the person not wearing the seatbelt is paying for mine too.

someone was also telling me there was some dui law that if everyone in the car is drunk and the driver gets a dui, so do the passengers. is that true? i mean how can you get a dui if you arent driving?

wow they're getting pretty crazy about these things...

9. parking in handicap spot - public execution

Posted by trancexguy on Jan-25-2007 00:55:

where did u find this?

Posted by Boomer187 on Jan-25-2007 00:58:

steep fines are the only way to get people to stop breaking the rules. Thats why there are similar HUGE fines in nevada for speeding in school zones. INSANE fines.

Posted by DaveT on Jan-25-2007 01:05:

Umm, the cell phone law doesn't even go into effect until like mid-2009. So how can fines be double now?

I smell hogwash.

Source please.

FYI, the measure goes into effect in July 2008, imposing a minimum $20 fine for anyone caught driving and using a cell phone unless the driver uses a headset, ear bud or other technology that frees both hands.

But I agree. All of these fines seem too outrageous...

Posted by TSG on Jan-25-2007 01:59:

I don't get this one.

5. Cell phone on the construction zone - Double fine

I know that if you are getting pulled over and you're in a construction zone, the fine is doubled. What does a cell phone have to do with the construction zone? Cause some kind of interference?

Oh and I can hardly wait til they do start citing those chit-chatting on their cells while driving!!! Freakin people holding a phone to their ear, BSing while driving, and not paying attention to anything around them! GRR$RRR...........

From a LA County Employee. Yeah I know those fines sound rediculous. Tomorrow, when I come in to work, I'm going to verify with some other people to see if those fines are true.

Posted by montie on Jan-25-2007 03:42:

sounds kinda outragous....but

a little less than a year ago I got a $400 fine for not coming to a complete stop at a stop sign when I was making a right turn

there was not a car on the road except for the police car (I didn't know it was a police car at the time) that was coming in the lane going the opposite direction.

It was pretty rediculous

This is outrageous!

What next? Soon they will make us have Drivers License's to conduct vehicles... bah!

THANK YOU!!!! I can't stand carpool violators!!! I'm sitting in traffic while some jerk-off passes me....fuck the bullshit!!!! I think carpool violating is worse than child abuse. You have no idea how much I hate that shit!!!

Posted by CrazedOut on Jan-25-2007 06:22:

FUCK Do I feel lucky!

I was driving on Sunset today headin to Bally's gym... and I was goin a bit fast... so I had to brake hard! And it was right in the middle of the intersection of Sunset and Wilcox I think... where the cop station is by Staples...

It was still a green light but then it turned red and cause of the traffic I was still there... shit.

A whole shit load of cops on bikes were crossing the street and all stared at me with mean faces haha I got scared, and a cop car was on my left side (making a left turn from opposite side of me).... Wow.

And the speeding rule of 3 mph no more than that... WHAT A LOAD OF SHIT!!! I have to be careful and I have to warn my brother because he brakes like every rule posted.

I dont get the seatbelt rule... over 18 part..?

who cares where you are. im just glad the fine has gone up. i hate that shit. people blocking intersections all over southern california every god damned day. they dont seem to care. the fine was onyl $200 before.

ruben: your just mad your not the one doing the same shit. not that i do that cause ti was $385 so i guess this will keep people from using the carpool lane indefinately if they dont have the minimum number of passengers.

Posted by TSG on Jan-25-2007 18:45:

I think I broke most of those laws this morning on my way to work!

Right now I believe the law is if you are over 18, a passenger in a car, and not wearing a seatbelt in a car that's pulled over you (the passenger) are ticketed. If you are under 18, then the driver is ticketed. If these turn out to be true, then if you are over 18 both you and the driver will be ticketed.

Another thing that's fishy is that I'm pretty sure the cell phone law is one of those laws that you won't be ticketed for unless you are pulled over for a more serious matter (like speeding). They won't simply pull you over for just using your cellphone....I think it should be no matter what, but I'm pretty sure that's how it's gonna be...so don't see how it would easily be doubled if you do it in a construction zone.

Aren't fines in construction zones doubled as is for any law you break?

Still smell hogwash.

Posted by CrazedOut on Jan-25-2007 21:58:

Oh ok, thanks for the clarification Dave.

I dont get ticket until November then

I have to stop blocking fucking intersections LOL this shit is scaring me.

I do agree on the cell phone rule, people should really pay attention to the road more often! Go bluetooth!

You're god damn right!!! I sit on the 91 and watch cock-smugglers pass me until I hit the fast track and it pisses me off beyond belief. I wish a never ending plague of sorrow and despair on their household so that they may never know happiness and ultimately commit suicide to escape the misery that has become their life
