Uncooked food at restaurants

I orderd a steak today medium, and it was ...at most rare.

I complained but i didn't want them to take it back, cause i'm afraid they'd spit on it.

am i paranoid or do you think that shit really happens?

Yes it happens. You made the right choice.

most reputable steakhouses undercook their steaks at least slightly, because you cant "repair" and overcooked piece of meat.

its common for ppl to send it back though, to get it cooked more. just dont send it back to me cause u know what ill do to it

(eat it )

I have worked in 3 different places that served food, and NEVER encountered a situation where some actually spit in an order.

I really don't think it happens as often as some people think.

Just order it medium & you won't have that problem.

For the average restaurant, I always order it one grade more done than I really like. It ends up just the way I like it each and every time.

Now, for a real steakhouse (not ponderosa's FFS), it's got to be perfect or I send it back. It's their business to make a perfect steak, so don't worry about anything like spitting happening there.

I knew an idiot who worked at a crappy hot dog place. He told me confidentially that he had pissed in the saurkraut.

I believe he did it.

you're always going to get a different result it's normal and should only be expected.

I order mine medium-well. I get a good medium one usually, and one the occasions it's a bit more cooked i don't mind so much as i would if it was nearly rare

Posted by KilldaDJ on Jan-28-2007 23:52:

order it extra medium?

Over here, it's the standard in most better places to do it medium-rare. I don't know why, but it is. Medium usually gets you a slightly pink, but cooked piece of meat. Medium-well gets a fully-cooked, grey one. I've never had to send back anything I've asked to have medium.

Real men go out, kill a cow, cut it, then eat it right there.

You're missing out.

i like my steak bloody.

Id rather have mine cooked to the point where it's juicy, but not mooing.

Yeah, same here. But if it came out blue, I'd definitely send it back.

I never send anything back. No freaking way. I didnt even do it before I saw "Waiting" and I sure as hell dont do it after Ive seen it.

I usually don't worry about spit in my food at restaurants...now fast food thats a different story. I've heard too many disgusting stories from people who have worked at them. One person said he served a hamburger with his ball sweat on the bun. When asked "why on the bun and not the burger?" I was told, "the bun is more absorbent to insure he will eat as much of my ball sweat as possible." Yeah, don't piss someone off who works at a fast food place and then order food there.

If you don't like it, just don't pay.
