A HUGE ebay issue...need ya'lls advice.
This is seriously starting to piss me off. heres the issue. I recently bought a Aalto - 5 Promo vinyl on ebay for about $17 total including shipping (London). The guy emails me about 5 days ago and says that the reason he hasnt left me feedback (keep in mind I left him a + feedback back in December when the transaction was made) is because he just now found out that his bank charges him an extra 8 (USD about $15) to transfer those funds into his account. Ok, first and foremost, you dont fucking sell to international bidders without consulting with your bank about issues like these, am I right? Second, at ANY GIVEN TIME did he mention anything about that in the listing. If I would have known that he was going to be charged that kinda money and thus adding it on to the shipping charges, I then would have NOT bidded on that vinyl (I could get it for much cheaper through Anjunabeats). Here is a copy of the message I got this morning:
"hi mate, yes totally accept there has a been a problem, however please bare in mind this was a first off for me having a buyer pay in this way. i have since revised all listings with paypal only to prevent any further payment issue. i will send back your cheque tomorrow. i was totally unaware of any bank charges for overseas payments and to be honest its a bit crap from the customer perspective i am sure you will agree. i apreciate you making the time to help overcome this situation and am truely sorry it has occured (in hindsight i was surprised at the continual reference to me giving you a good deal, i know my postage price is very competitive). i hope we can resolve it quickly and easily. many thanks in advance, and sorry for the hassle"
I think this is horse shit. I think this guy needs a pipe bomb in his ass. Besides, I already left him a good feedback for sending the vinyl...and he even sent it LATE (but i honored the fact that it was during the holidays so no biggie). I have received no feedback from this cat. What should I do? Cancel my account again like I did back in March of last year? I am not accepting that negative feedback bullshit for no payment. If I get that money order back in the mail I am gonna cash the bitch myself and keep the money and just cancel my ebay account because this is bullshit. Actually, I'll wait till I get my AVB vinyl and then cancel.
He fucked up, you got your item and he's sending your money back and didn't even allude that he wants you to pay the whole. Sounds like except for the monumental waste of time this guy put you through, you're the one coming out on top. eBay has its share of moron fuckwits, and every now and again you stumble across one, but that's not a reason to shut down the whole thing. I've had one bad incident with an eBay buyer, and they're no longer registered and I'm still there. You can respond to feedback left, so even if he throws a negative on there you can rebut. More likely, he won't leave feedback at all.

^^^ word (EDIT: @ nath.tx). Doesn't sound like that big of a deal mate... my advice is to use paypal in future. It's piss easy. In any case, if he asks for the whole amount including the extra charges, tell the limey bastard to cock off. He had no right in charging you any more than he originally asked, and seeing as he has sent back the 'correct' amount that you mailed him, he's just fucked himself over.
short version plz.

ebay
I've used eBay a lot in the past for selling old junk that people always seem to want to buy, it amazes me.
first keep all your emails involving the issue, they might be useful later on.
If he sends you the vinyl and the money order he is just stupid, its his fault he lost money on the deal due to the fees, not yours. Unless you agreed on some alternate payment you could probably get away with not paying (that's between you and your conscious) but he could take you to the mediation process where your emails could be helpful in explaining what happened but you would probably still have to pay (the original price) unless you claim you never received the money order and he can't refute your claim. Its an annoying process but it sometimes works... likewise if you don't get your product or your money order then I would file a complaint with the mediation process, they will get you one or the other back.
as a buyer, I would never leave feedback until you have the product in hand and have checked it out.
I know you said you don't like paypal but it is probably the best way to deal with that type of transaction. My advice on that is never keep a lot of money in your account, I stay under $30 unless I'm about to purchase something, and never open paypal through an email, they are usually spam looking to steal your info. It's annoying and stupid but I always open paypal from the eBay site, that way I know its safe. And it doesn't hurt to change your password every once in a while just to be safe.
just my thoughts
