Computer Questions...

I'm trying to figure out why is it that whenever I try to Install The Service Pack 2 for my computer, my internet slows downs or it hardly goes online. I'm pretty sure it has nothing to do with my provider. Does anyone have an idea of what could it be and how could I solve the problem?
