Problem with CDJ 800 (please help!!!)

Hi everyone,

My problem is my cd's wont play when I turn it in Vinyl mode, on regular mode it works fine. Has anyone ever had this problem or had to replace any parts on a Pioneer CDJ 800?

Read your manual, if you don't have one, I think you can find an electronic copy at www.pioneerprodj.com. If you still can't solve the problem, go to their forum: http://forums.pioneerdj.com/eve, the users on that board are very helpful. Worse come to worse, take it to a local pioneer dealer and have them fix it for you. Hope this helps. Maybe some other TAs can shine some light to this?

Make sure you have it set to DJ MODE on the back of the mixer.

Yeah, I sent it to Pioneer it needs repair. Unfortunaltly I need 2 CD players for this weekend so I just picked up a second hand CDJ 1000.

My CDJ 800 is at Pioneer for repair too. But mine simply won't read CD's.

wasnt this a problem with the mk2 when it first came out? there was a problem with the laser so it couldnt read certain cds properly but its been sorted now.

I wasn't aware. My CDJ's are the first generation Pio 800's and this is the second time I get them fixed. The first time my lens got screwed up because of condensation. I was playing inside a really hot, steamy club, and as soon as I was done, I took them to my car outside where it was really cold. Yeah, that was not a good idea.

I take it your MK1s are out of warranty. So, I also assume you are paying for your repair? If so do you know how much yet - just interested to see how much they charge if it ever has to come to that.....

Cheers

i had this problem with my CDJ 800 - its becuae the touch pads which get pushed when you touch the jog, get stuck. On mine one of them was stuck, and i opened up my CDJ and took an exacto knife, and un-pried it, so it wasnt stuck any more. CDJ works find for me now - however i wouldnt recommend it...

if its out of warranty, and you have careful hands, why not?

if you are mechanically inclined, when you open it you will see what i mean, the only tricky part is that the ribbon leading from the main unit to the jog is short, and you have to remove the jog from the top face plate....

good luck
