The Golf Thread

I think it is a stupid game personally, but hey, go ahead & chat about it in this thread anyhow.

Here are some pictures of golfers just to create some atmosphere...

You dont get to shoot people in golf, hense making it dull. Paintball is a much better sport and is much more civilized. Who's up for a cup of tea with beer in it?

sweet, it's urine!

I actually dont mind playing golf if I have a constant supply of beer to go with it, But just dont expect me to be able to hit a ball after 5th hole! Oh & I need a buggy to ride. Those things make golfing tolerable!

Posted by idoru on Jan-31-2007 05:20:

I play it maybe two or three times during the summer. Any more than that and I'd be bored out of my mind.

Posted by CrazedOut on Jan-31-2007 05:24:

After winter is over, I wanna find a golf course here around in LA and go golfing, it's been interesting me for a while now.

I used to play. A lot. Now I don't. Burn-out's a bitch.

I didn't even on a high school team...too busy flying all over the place to play tournaments...but poorly-timed injuries + too much time without a break = burn-out. I haven't swung a club in...about 2 years. [shrug]

Posted by PvDoBseSSioN on Jan-31-2007 06:03:

i've been playing since i was four, mainly got forced into it because both my uncles are professionals in france and both won the french open twice....

i try to play every other week in the regular season (april - november) so if anyone is in the nyc area let me know!

Posted by Frenchie on Jan-31-2007 06:05:

I like mini put, does that count? I also like going to the driving range and just mess around. I cannot watch it on TV or go watch it but actually hitting a few balls isn't that bad, but as a spot it sucks.

neither can I. Never have been able to, but for the last couple rounds of a major, or the very end of a very close tournament. Otherwise, it's boring as all hell to watch on TV...this, even when I was spending 10+ hours a day playing or practicing the same sport.

Going to a tournament and watching it all in person, on the other hand, is infinitely better and a lot of fun.

Posted by Frenchie on Jan-31-2007 06:26:

You're right, it is better in person. I think it's the fact that I'm just standing back and watching something that isn't really THAT entertaining to begin with instead of being able to play.

Posted by Lilith on Jan-31-2007 06:31:

Just depends who or what youre playing with I suppose.

photoshopping funhax... oh well going to hell again...

Posted by Frenchie on Jan-31-2007 06:32:

You are cruel just for posting that. I hope you get cooties.

nah, it's just incredibly boring to watch on tv. They only show the guys who're playing brilliantly, so all you see are good shots and birdies, and from angles where you really can't tell just how good they actually are, and how difficult the shots can be. I always go watch the good players who're playing badly. I'd much rather watch a really good pro hit out of trees & bunkers & from next to water hazards than see somebody constantly making birdies. Anybody can make a birdie, but the pros are 1,000,000 times better at getting out of bad spots than amateurs, and that's fun to watch.

Plus, in person, they all look like they're swinging about half as quickly as they do on TV. I've been shocked at every single tournament I've gone to at just how slowly and smoothly the pros all swing...some of them look like they're underwater.

Posted by Lilith on Jan-31-2007 07:33:

Cruel?
I'm not the one who was spamming Enferno's thread and I assume it was hideous and probably involved the insertion of something/some animal, you seemed to find plenty to laugh about there...

Posted by Frenchie on Jan-31-2007 07:35:

Wow, re-fuckin'-lax.

I was kidding, obvi. Since when have I ever personally not liked anything you've posted? Never.

Posted by Lilith on Jan-31-2007 08:14:

I'm a sensitive person really

and I thought you where a dirty hippy

Posted by Frenchie on Jan-31-2007 08:24:

How did you come across that idea?

Posted by all-nite-freak on Jan-31-2007 08:27:

I hate fucking golf with a passion, but when it comes to going to the driving range and trying to hit the guy who gathers the balls i'm all over that like oprah with a bucket of kfc.

Well, when faced with adversity just now, you did tell somebody to "reeeelaaxx, man". Maybe you didn't write it out just like that, but I am pretty certain that's how you would have said it in real-life.

Ragamuffin!

Posted by Frenchie on Jan-31-2007 18:54:

Hippy's don't swear. I said re-fuckin'-lax.
