If you machine can handle it, is not thaat bad, but theres no much worth of it until at least SP1 imo

don't guy it unless you're getting a new pc.
No real justification for an upgrade at this stage

im gonna hold off on it for a while just because its a brand new OS and they have to work the bugs out of it, plus i don't like the way its set up

No. If you really need to get it though, wait until Q4 of this year, when (supposedly) the first Service Pack for Vista will be out. Of course, take that with a huge grain of salt, considering the delays that Vista RTM went through.

That's a sick deal. Is it still active?
I've heard it runs much smoother than XP, if you have the right hardware. However, I don't see any use for it, until 64-bit computing is mainstream.

woj: what distro you run? i just loaded gentoo on via sabayon cause i was trying to install gentoo via the livecd and failed. sabayon sucks cause it has too much shit i dont need nor want. and its not optimized for the cpu.
edit//back on topic...vista is bloated. with aero enabled it uses a TON of ram.

yea but it's only for retail employees
the processor runs around 1.6GhZ, cabable of being overclocked to around 2.8.
If I did overclock it that much, i'd need to get a watercooling system, too.

no that is incorrect statement. Windows don't suck, users do. I still running the same installation from the original windows 2000, then to sp1->2->3->4. My computer runs like a champ. I have sooooooo much crap installed and tons of crap connected to my computer. I never had a problem. It is not just the computer responsibility to make up for mistakes of the user. Basic prevention is all you need. Updated anti-virus, firewall, and know what not to install.
Anybody who says, "i use a (mac/linux) i don't need a virus program"...is pretty much idiotic. That is like saying i'll drive a hummer. i will never get in a car accident. Yes your chances is less, but it only takes one time for you to be wrong.
I still run my PIII 933mhz, but what's funny is that it runs alot faster then the p4's out there. It runs faster because i don't have all the stupid spyware installed. Its not the computer fault, its the users for allowing it to happen.
