Tribal

So with Electro being pounded a shit load these days in all forms and styles one can only wait and watch it fade away like no other. Said by more than a few big name djs, "Tribal" is where things are going to be at in the next little while. Anyone got any examples of Tribal beats, I know Randy Katana does tribal nicely, kind of a techy progressive tribal feel to it. Anyone got other djs/producers that are pounding big room tribal house or tech etc....

discuss.

A kind of dark tribal progressive was very famous in the beginning of the 00s with Diggers, Tenaglias, Lawlers, Howels,Deep Dishes etc etc etc.i don't know if you missed that, but it was surely the golden age of all things tribal. I remeber this thing being (over-)played to death (especially in greek clubs...it still is). So i hope that this damn sound NEVER COMES BACK!!!!!!!

So, yes, instead of recycling things over and over and over again, why not go for new ideas? Its ok to be retro but its not ok when retro is the "new" cool all over again. It certainly tells something about the state of music...

Gonna have to go with a shameless self promotion on this: Check out the mix in my signature. CLICK FOR TRACKLIST

I am a fan of that early dark progressive/tribal sound, eg Steve Lawler's 7/16/2000 EM.

I tend to play progressive house and I get pretty tribally and techy live but I would say my style is a lot more melodic and less abrasive than say Tenaglia's style. Sometimes I begin to venture into trance and minimal techno.

Tom Stephan aka Superchumbo I remember used to play loads of tribal a few years back.

Tribal got a bit saturated to be honest, after hearing hundreds of tracks with a similiar drumbeat and some voice saying something along lines of 'Can you feel the drums' it got a bit boring after while.

Be good if someone could take it in another direction.

+1...an amazing blend of tribal and progressive beats with a theme that doesn't stray from being in the jungle at all...i def recommend this mix
