How did you get into EMD?
http://www.tranceaddict.com/forums/...5&forumid=26&s=
as emberassing as it is, Mortal Kombat (the movie). when I heard Traci Lords - Control (Juno Reactor Instrumental) and Orbital - Halcyon + On + On I went out and bought the soundtrack right away. and theyre still top tunes in my eyes.
Dance Dance Revolution, an dancing arcade game with a bunch of catchy Eurodance songs on it. It got me hooked on the cheesier side of things, and eventually I started digging deeper...
EMD? you mean EDM?
I blame dyslexia.

Johan Gielen, trane energy 2001 set. Accidentally dl'd the video. After hearing Marco V's Simulated (marco V.ision remix) I was hooked and have never looked back.
Maybe he's talking about this?

through greg stryke.. heard him on the radio one night..
I was 12, and I forced myself to listen to it because a couple of friends listened to it. I figured it'd make me cooler if I did.
prodigy - music for the jilted generation (1994)
My cousin listened to Scooter a long time ago and so I started to like it too. Then I started to listen to that kind of music more and here I am today looking back to those times. Well, I don't miss them as the stuff I listen to now are even better than any of the stuff I listened to back then
How did EDM get into me?
At the age of 14 I started discovering EDM by listening to some Scooter tracks, and I loved it... as I still love some today.
After that was only a matter of paying more attention to festivals of that genres, etc... one thing is certain, without the Internet I wouldn't be able to discover all that I know today (that still isn't much).
Probably with music on the computer game "Unreal" back in 1998. I wanted to find something similar. I started listening to net radio stations, and heard trance music, and that was the closest I could find, that was around the summer of 1999. But before I was into trance, I had gotten a little into house and more mainstream electronic acts/artists like Moby, Massive Attack, The Prodigy, Daft Punk, Enigma and Basement Jaxx. After hearing BT's "Flaming June" and PvD's "For An Angel (E-Werk Club Mix)" and Tilt's "Invisible" I knew trance was the music I liked the best.
Ever since I was a kid, people around me listened alot to older stuff by BT and Oliver Lieb, etc. Dunno if that's what made me so interested in electronic music around 1998.
In 98 I started searching for stuff, I was scratching the very surface of electronic music, searching for "best trance" on the internet, simply because I wasn't familiar with any names, really.
a little friend called ecstasy
well that refined my hardcore passion for it. I had always loved edm before but never been obsessed with it, which i am clearly now.
a friend online was talking about it and how she did E
so she gave me a live set of PvD at Cream Amnesia Closing party 2004
fucking awesome set (prolly my favorite even now... lol)
eurodance and prodigy in the early nineties. my dad, my uncle and my cousin were all djs and had lots of stuff. my cousin had one of those mixers with bomb and machinegun sounds that you could add to make the eurodance more rough. good times.
i received this cd as a gift. class stuff
i then went on to shit edm like scooter and 666. after that, i had some kind of phase where i listened to watered down pop-hip hop. that lasted until 2000 or so, and after that i barely listened to anything.
started fully in 2004 with edm again, started collecting in 2005... and, i'll get back to you in 10 years..
Napster
Eurodance....Aqua, ATC, Daze, Amber, La Bouche, etc etc...Thought it was the most amazing sound in the world... finally worked my way up to cheesy/commercial trance and now I think I have a pretty good footing as to where I stand.
Prodigy/Chem Bros got me into Eleectronica
Alice Deejay got me into the Dance section of EDM
Trance Nation 2 got me into the "not gay" Dance section of EDM
Tranceport 1 got me into the "definitely not gay, best shit ever" Dance section of EDM
then Hybrid got me into breaks, which is just breaks
My friend from Spain gave me a cd of tracks back in '98. Then I downloaded my first EM in '99...Home @ Space.
It was Aqua- Barbie Doll, that hooked me. WOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Commodore 64.
