Anyone own a MDG Computer?

I'm sure we've all seen the commercials and countless ads in the paper for these cheap computers...

Does anyone actually own an MDG computer? I've heard nothing but problems with them. People saying that they lie about what exactly they put in the computer and actually lie about the product. I remember someone saying they completely made up names for some of their HDDs to make them seem more attractive to the buyers.

Has any of this changed? I have some friends who want a cheap computer but I told them to avoid MDG...is still true?

Anyone here have an MDG computer that works and hasn't had any problems?

Really eh? Thats good to hear. I had a friend who bought maybe a year ago, and he had tons of problems. His LCD screen shorting out and there was a huge Green line right down the centre..and this happened w/ two of his monitors..

He kept have HDD errors and stuff like that.

It may be an exception, but I haven't heard much positive stuff about it.

I wouldn't mind buying a cheap desktop to "play" around on and stuff like that.

MDG is Garbage!!!! The parts other that the cpu(obviously) i.e. Motherboard are of the lowest quality out there!!!

Dell is way better quality and service for a bit more money!!

But MDG will finance anyone... so what does that tell you?

Dude if your credit is half decent get a Dell!

Dell is cheap is quite of an ignorant statement. It honestly depends for what puprose, company that I work for has Dell systems, including a dell server, and no hardware related problems at all, only place where their quality may have declined is in the notebook laptop sections. I've had 3 dell laptops myself no problems at all.

as for MDG take it for what it stands for Main Distributor of Garbage

Petr. I think she meant that Dell is just as Cheap in price $$$ for btter quality???

i had one....very cheap parts in it...specs were good but it was the cheapest of the crop. i had freezing issues at first.
i ended up building my own computer after 6 or so months.
never had a problem with that.
go Dell instead of MDG.

Dell warrenty is kickass ... some chic here at work spinned a bottle of wine on her laptop the next day they came in and replaced pretty much everything. The only thing that remained the same was the outside shell and the screen.

i have the same warrenty.....i can drop my laptop on purpose and walk on it with wet shoes and they'll replace everything.

i bought a MDG comp in jan 2002. still running. although ive upgraded the video card, harddrives and the dvd burner. but im sure if i didnt, they would still be running.

but i wouldnt buy one ever again just from the stories ive read. go to someone thats reputable ie, dell. if somethign goes wrong, they'll actually fix it.

yep if you get the complete care crap cost 350+ but after 2 years i decided to break it, they replaced motherboard and cpu and since 1.6 wasn't made for i had a 2.2 P4 for free

Dell does have good warrenty, but the price tag is not cheap at all.

Get one of your friends, who is a computer pro and just put together a computer yourself at the non major retail stores and you'll save a lot of cash.

MGD is sort of shaddy. My co-worker's son got one from them and they gave him half the ram and HD space as to what he had paid for.

by the way i am selling my computer its custom built by me and Max.

Intel P4 3GHZ
80G HD
1G Ram
SoundMax Digital 7.1 Sound
Intel (R) Graphics Media
Win XP Home
DVD Re-Writer

has 2 more extension slots 4 USB ports and bunch of other cool stuff init.

I've had two MDG computers in the past, and was very happy with them. Wish I had went with them again when I got my most recent computer, but I went with PC Village instead, and have had nothing but problems with it.

But, when I went with MDG - I hand picked everything I wanted and didnt get a pre-built package. I know how to build my own computers from scratch (spent a summer doing it for a job), I just hate doing it -- so I used them pretty much as an "I pick the parts, you build it for me because I'm lazy" type thing.

MDG is Canada's largest clone computer manufacturer. It took that spot from IPC (if anyone remembers them). I watched MPC grow from one store to several over the last several years. It's a clone, so not much different than any other clone dealer, but with an excellent marketing plan.

HP has the same optional no-fault warranty available as Dell.

no wonder the warrenty isnt cheap when u guys break the comps on purpose!

Build your own.

If you don't know how, Google it.

Prebuilt systems suck. You always end up with a shitty power supply, a shitty motherboard, and shitty RAM.

+1

However if you want to buy prebuilt go with Dell.

Money is better wasted burning it in your fireplace. Proceed to buy any "commercial" branded computer if you want inferior quality craftmanship/hardware. If you are truly doing absolutely nothing on your computer except for MSN/E-Mail/Browsing/Forums then by all means buy an MDG computer and or any other "Brand" name out there such as Dell, IBM, Gateway etc.

Otherwise take your time to do some thorough research in building your own computer that better suits your needs to whatever it is you may be doing. Keep in mind, most people do NOT plan for the future and you must realize that computers become outdated VERY fast. The problem is not so much that your computer is not fast, its more or less the fact that the software that is released requires a significant amount of resources which outways its previous predecessors. So with that being said I always find some reviews on hardware and buy something that gives me the best bang for my buck. Far from the worst, but not nearly the best. Something that will last me a solid 3 years technology wise.

My 2 cents.

True enough...if I build my own PC I can also built exactly to my own specific and what I intend to do with it...

I have an MDG computer which I just so happen to be posting this from, and have had no problems what so ever that were not my fault.
