-- What was the problem?
What was the problem?
I'm baffled.
The guy asks what equipment his favourite producer uses, then he gets the piss taken out of him and the thread closed?
The question was legitimate because different synths have different characters and can create different sounds.
What if GOY wants to sound like Jaytech? So what, if he has fun doing so then good for him, I'm all for it.
If a guy went on a Hendrix forum and asked how to get the tones that Hendrix did, should he be told 'buying same shit as Hendrix won't make you as good as him.' Of course not, because that's making the assumption that the guy thinks he will instantly sound like Hendrix. For all you now the guy knows fine well he'll have to practice his ass off.
From what I see, you had an answer before GOY even asked the question.
you are right
I don't want to start a flame war. I just didn't see what was wrong with the question.
If any kind soul knows what stuff Jaytech uses, maybe they can pm GOY or something.
yea, I just read the thread too. Its not like he was asking "how do i make trance" which actually get more answers than i saw in that thread.
I said I'd ask him next time he's in town...
As for the thread, it was going nowhere so I closed it. It seemed lost.
there was no problem, its just more fun to tease people than to help them.

It's TA, this is a rather common practice so don't take it to heart. Hopefully he will ask somewhere where it's more friendly. I thought the question was fine.
How nice of Booster to take it off on a tangent
The thing is he could had easily found it out himself by doing a bit of research. I just spent 5 seconds of my life and I immediately found out his contact details where I could ask the info from.
How are we supposed to know what equipment a certain producer uses?
I interpreted the question as asking what sequencer he used, not which synths (hence my answer in that thread). If that was the intended meaning, it was a very dumb question, because sequencers don't have any character or distinctive sound whatsoever.
But it's not a good question even if he meant soft-synths. Post a sample and ask how the sound is made. Those questions always get answered, to the best of our members' abilities. Nobody has a problem with those. A non-specific question like "what software does DJ Tiesto use cuz I wanna sound like him" only seems to reveal a deep and willful ignorance about how the music is created, and I'm not inclined to encourage such people who really shouldn't be producing at all.

Let's try and properly word out questions and keep this forum strictly music production.
