Review: Rank 1 @ Boom Boom Room Windsor
Well just got home... It was ok.
Got there at around 12:15 and Piet was on the decks already. Tunes were good.
One thing that really bothered me was that everyone and their mother was dancing around with glowsticks and smacking people around.
Oh saw Lisa and Shanny there. I was gonna introduce myself, but I was too shy
More of a review later..i am too tired now..gona get a bite and somethin to drink...
Nice! Glad you had fun, I can understand the stupidness that takes over at those kinds of parties...
it's what prevents me from hitting up the "Guv style" jams so often...
what tracks did he play?
Shanny texted me (thnx by the way
) and said he played Greece 2000 ... can you ID any others?
Greece 2000? My fucking tune!
. Piettttttttttttt
Nice.
OK, frankly I have a hard time accepting a semi-negative review from someone who didn't stay for the whole set. Posted at 3:21? He didn't even drop the last track until 3:45... OTOH, I wish I found my way upstairs earlier. Didn't hit the room until about 1:30. Never been to this venue before, I was looking forward to an interesting transition in the main room from Sean Paul to Cygnus X
Yea, the glowstick moron mafia was out in full force, but keeping yourself carefully positioned and having your arms ready still allowed you to enjoy a wicked set. Then again, I never expected to get hit by both a chucked water bottle AND a chucked glowstick in a dance floor full of no more than 40 people
But both happened. Seriously, Windsor people: get some "stickem" on your hands and some downers in your veins.
So here's my review: Piet played all my favourite songs from the past decade or so until now. Well, not all of them, but almost everything played was a favourite of mine. Hell of a set. One track dropped in hot was a little off, and there was a mishap with someone hitting the play/pause on their way by in the booth... But seriously, that was a great two hour set. It's great to hear a set with so many builds and power chords played in such a small venue. It really played well, I thought! Would love a recording, or a tracklisting especially to grab a couple of track names I didn't recognise.
Anyway, back in Kitchener. Time to grab a nap before the Superbowl
I had fun..... personally the tunes were old.... I expected a bit more from him.
All in all Boom Boom Room is still bringing solid talent

Just the two hours (and, um, 15 minutes?) that I saw. Last half, maybe? So, take my positive review with a grain of salt too, because I didn't catch the first 1.5h or so of his set (which might have dragged ass for all I know).

played that last time at ultraspin...its a great track....
Review time!
I got there substantially early...around 10:30. People we're allowed upstairs yet, but Remo so kindly brought up upstairs b/c my two friends (Derek & Andrew aka DNA) were spinning. Got the "hey...let's do a shot" as per usual from Remo
But had to decline due to driving purposes.
DNA played a stellar opening set. Really great track selection! Good job boys. My favorite of course: Jose Amnesia - The Eternal (Original Mix)...thank you Derek
Piet got on the Decks around midnight. It was a good set IMO. He played a variety of older trance tracks, some tech-trance, lots of stuff I recognized (but didn't know some of the names). I danced a lot at the beginning of the night, but I was exhausted from being up so early and my boots were starting to hurt me.
It got REALLY cold at the end of the night too! B/c the AC was cranked up from when there were lots of people. Just after 3 I went to get my winter coat and clothes and was dancing around with that on! Haha
Piet is a great guy. I really enjoyed talking to him. I went up to the DJ booth periodically throughout the night to talk to him. One time I was up there with Remo and Piet told Remo that he should watch what he says to me b/c I can make him or break him on the boards (or something along those lines I think). I thought that was kinda funny.
The end of the night I spent up there, as soon as he played Ferry Corsten - Junk. I went up to say "I'm sure you know what a big Ferry whore I am" and he's like "Ferry Corsten's bitch" Hahaha. Then he played Kernkraft 4000 - Zombie Nation (brings back Tiesto - Trance Energy 2000 memories). Followed by which, he ended with Out of the Blue ![]()
And his "one more" track: Grouryella - Gouryella ![]()
I didn't even ask him to play those tracks! Haha Thanks for giving me my Ferry fix Piet
All in all, it was a great frickin night. All my old Guv crew people were out supporting DNA. And Piet was great...great DJ and amazing guy to talk to. Thanks for coming to my home town - and I hope to see you again soon.

And I can't forget...thank you Remo for your hospitality as always! Those ear plugs really helped. I'm so used to partying with my ER-20s, my ears actually hurt when I didn't have them in.
Oh...Piet also played Top Gear, Breathing (Breaks Dub) & Silence (dunno which mix). There's another old track that he played that was a mix I'd never heard, but Josh and I couldn't think of the name.
Tracklist?
Did anyone take one? I'm horrible for putting names to tracks, but here's what jumped to mind:
Cygnus X - Superstring (Rank 1 Original Mix)
Rank 1 - Top Gear (Original Mix)
Ferry Corsten - Junk (Flashover remix?)
Kernkraft 4000 - Zombie Nation
System F - Out of the Blue
That may be in order? Maybe not? Eh, whatever. If you could add to it that would be great. Just picked up Junk thanks to *~LiSa-LoO~*
Anybody know if he dropped his latest remix??
cosmic gate-analog feel (rank1s digital rehash) ... that remix is sex... piets in ottawa tonight at heaven wooha
Ahhhhhhh look at how rosy my cheeks are! It was so hot in there...at least at the beginning of the night.

| Originally posted by djbruuen agreed. i'm surprised someone would complain about old tunes. Old tunes are a luxury EDM fans don't often get because everyone always wants to play the latest and greatest. |
