My evening in Dallas

went to Afterlife to see Kyau vs Albert at roughly 11pm...

fuckin candy kid central... no alcohol all drugs... i got my money back from manager b/c i said this is fuckin ridicullus and he said ok ..

next.. plan b... kenneth thomas... me and my gf were content but the 4 of us thought it was cool...how fucking lame 8 people total

me and my gf left.... went to LL... decent as alwasys... had a good time....

no idea who played... but LL put out what is expected...

(deleted all my hateful comments about afterlife, b/c i wish i had this when i was your ages........ its still fuckin wrong but i wish i had it then so have fun and be smart)

Posted by Zild on Feb-04-2007 11:20:

all those tards at afterlife will get what is coming to them, a life full of working minimum wage at a shit job

I can sympathize as I've never had a good time in Dallas.

Just because you are drinking, it doesn't make you look cool. Let the candy kids and other true fans of the music do as they want. Nobody was bothering you or forcing you to join in.

Kenneth Thomas puts on a bad ass show and puts his all into each set...regardless of how many people are attending. If you had a group of eight, your group should have had a blast with the entire dance floor to yourselves!!

I suggest, if you are there to listen to and appreciate the music, you shouldn't be so concerned about how many people are there or what others are doing.

Posted by Zild on Feb-04-2007 11:26:

Candy kids be default are most definitely not true fans of anything except drugs. They know shit fuck about the music so get that bullshit out of here.

And he did. It was fun opening for him

i think the only reason afterlife doesnt have an alcohol license is to keep it as far away from the authorites as possible....

they did return my money when i complained they didnt have alcohol...

so +1 for them in that regards...

ill actually go to afterlife again knowing how they operate, but next time ill just bring a bottle of rum in...

club one though... good luck, that was sad... and it is about the people with the music,.... if its just pure music then i can hear the perfect set at home alone... i go out to enjoy the music with people..

Posted by Ph03n1x on Feb-04-2007 20:54:

Why do care how other people enjoy the music? I do what I want and I could give an F what other people thought. Do you really think that your opinion is that important that others should change to be like you?

Let them be and have a good time.

You took that out of context.

It should read,

quote:
Let the candy kids and other true fans of the music do as they want.

Key words, "do as they want."

Posted by shaw on Feb-04-2007 22:43:

no, I didn't. He referred to people who use the music as a supplement to their drug use as the 'true fans of the music.'

Posted by Ph03n1x on Feb-05-2007 00:11:

Ok, my bad. Carry on.

and they also make the underground have a really really bad image. if that shit keeps gettin bigg (the candy stuff) then when a person says he listens 2 trance or underground dance music then there will be ppl stereotyped into thinking that nothing good can come out of an edm listener.

that's pretty much already the case.

not in my side of town.

Posted by shaw on Feb-05-2007 02:58:

I'm talking about the general population...people who've never been to a club, etc.

just depends on who you're thinking about. To a 45-year-old housewife in Nebraska, EDM is still about getting completely wrecked off of X & spinning around in circles 'til you OD...with some repetetive beat in the background, in a sleazy underground warehouse. I don't associate with many such people, but that's still the majority.

There have been many times I won't discuss the music I enjoy with people because I know they'll just write me off as another drug loser.

My whole point wasn't that the candy kids are the only true fans of the music, I basically meant to just leave them alone. If they are not directly bothering you then whats the big deal. I don't like drinking, does that mean I should bitch every time I go to a show and see drunk people? NO - because I'm there to enjoy myself and the music, so I'm not going to let others ruin my time because they want to do something I may not agree with.

It sucks that you let something so petty stand in your way of having a great time that night. Maybe you should lighten up.

i was drunk when i posted my mean comments... and they were also fueled by Club One w/ Kenneth Thomas (my back up plan B) in the fact that it had only 8 people there... Afterlife didnt have the alcohol, Club One didn't have the people... and i drove 3hrs and got a hotel for both my initial plan and even amazingly i had a backup plan both fell through... i was unprepared to find a plan C at almost 1am,... luckly Lizard Lounge pulled through..

but i wasnt upset with the kandy kids at all... i thought they were very amusing actually and would have enjoyed myself if i was also in that state...., but i went there to drink as anyone should expect at a club because it's legal and the norm...

i was more upset at the club for not having alcohol than anything...

ill be more than happy to go back to Afterlife exactly as it is, but this time ill come prepared to enjoy myself in that manner...

they should make it obvious to people on their website that they do not serve alcohol...

u sound like a treehugger.

I have been to a few Afterlife parties and I've met plenty of people there that aren't just about the drugs. On the other hand, I've met a few people that have been all about the drugs BUT then I've met them and kept in touch with them...These people have gone on to experience parties sober with a greater appreciation for the music. Yes, Afterlife does portray a part of our scene that isn't exactly what EDM is all about BUT on the other hand I believe it might get a handful hooked on what EDM is all about. It goes both ways really...just my 2 cents...
