Meh, how many people are murdered in various cities around the world everyday? Do you read about every gunshot in LA or NY? No you don't. And people still travel there. Unfortunately, Mexico is being blown out of proportion by the media because tourists are being injured. So why is a Canadian life more important than a Mexican's who got shot?

yes and no man, its canadians that are being targeted, or at least affected... which means it might be best to avoid.

I guess so. It wouldn't stop be from visiting in the future at all. I think this is just an unlucky set of events.

Personally I think it's a bit of media sensationalism.

Now if the Mexican authorities did their job and actually catch the buggers that are committing these crimes, these crimes would have gone under the radar but their 'Mexicans aren't to blame' attitude pissed off a lot of Canadians, so the media is adding fuel to the fire.

Yeah, I have a real cynical attitude towards media.

Money money money money monaaaay

Though I won't be visiting Mexico anytime in the future, unless I'm allowed to carry an assault rifle with me at all times

I think the Mexicans got something against the people from woodbridge!!!

Mexico is gonna be sooooooo cheap after all this I cant wait.

Posted by geroin on Feb-05-2007 04:47:

i think its fucking ridiculous
not the set of the events but the fact that nothing is being done to protect their tourism industry and actually catch the people responsible for harming the tourists. I mean this is in their advantage to do so..no? I personally am not going there in the near future..

why not?
you come to toronto all the time and theres way more Canadian murders here. Obviously theres a population size difference but u get my point.
Canadians getting targeted? I highly doubt it. We will never know the full story of any of these murders but i still think its just a coincidence. As far as the travel advisory goes i believe its just our governments way of protesting the lackluster investigations into the crimes.

Precisely the point I was trying to prove.

Though it is terrible they are not looking into these murders further, all we can base it on is what the media here tells us, and we all know how reliable they are.

That's money well spent.

I don't have any love for Mexico. Cuba I find to be much better, but that's just me.

There is undoubtedly some media sensationalizm in this, but there has been a serious lack of effort by local authorities as well.
