Angry Why is House invading Trance?

WTF is the problem? I mean I go everywhere and they sell House as Trance..

WTF is wrong with you people!!!

Posted by Scoops on Feb-05-2007 18:51:

take it up with consumer affairs

You go to the wrong places then. Stay there.

money money

I think a lot of it might be regional differences in what we call the genres. For example I met a South African girl that called trance 'house' and psy trance 'trance', i believe it's not uncommon for the dutch to call trance 'house' as well.

I completely concur!!

Im also getting sick tired of house there's too much funky shit out there. And it seems alot of people like to spawn alot of house threads everywhere on the forums. They follow the flow just like the moneydiggers. Ask the same people 5 years ago and they would say Tisto big time. Time to make a dedicated forum or "houseaddict" for those housegeeks?

We need to reinvent old-school trance back again from the ground and not for the money of course. Wish i had a timemachine.

Just a personal opinion.

What's wrong with calling psy trance "trance?" That's what it is.

Posted by Hydarnes on Feb-05-2007 19:26:

Well, house is the more popuar style of the two...and it's smothering trance right now in some respects.

But I always find plenty comfort in retreating back to all the old goodies .

Posted by Mr.Mystery on Feb-05-2007 19:57:

First I've heard of this. Where does it happen, exactly?

Posted by CooLKiD on Feb-05-2007 20:04:

I also hate people that think that they know a lot of trance and think that trance and techno are the same thing... lolz

Posted by Lira on Feb-05-2007 20:14:

Trance is in the house, lol

Yet another winning thread from Purple.

Posted by julien2 on Feb-05-2007 20:32:

Cause prog house and prog trance have become the same crap.

oh also, cause trance sucks. This fact (not an opinion) is more and more widely know nowadays. Thus, trance does not sell.

...I have a suggestion for the likes of you:

www.houseaddict.com

it's been there forever, but its a significantly smaller community than TA and there's so much variety of knowledge here so why should I or anyone leave because we prefer house to trance. It's already been made clear that the MD is made to discuss any type of electronic music. So quit bitchin!

trance mightnt sell as much in the commerical market but in terms of clubs it attracts much more people than house does.

where is the proof for your statement?

i would beg to differ. You'd struggle to find a trance club in Sydney, but if it's house or electro then clubs are abundant. I had a similar experience last time I was in Amsterdam (hip hop clubs seemed to be the rage at the time but no trance clubs).

if house is making more money commercially then logically it'd make sense that house clubs would make more money also.

Yet another closeminded trancecracker. Trance or nothing man!!!!!

Who cares? Buy what you like, and if you don't know what you like, then search more.

Boy, I sure wish I could agree! Maybe where you live, but finding a club that plays trance is like being around for an eclipse.

And then...the painful truth.

You're very right. Imagine how bad it is in America if amsterdam was playing hiphop That's pretty much all there is everywhere you go. ...But house and electro are pretty much all you will find in clubs as far as EDM goes.

Yeah...you wouldn't say that for "neo-trance" though...

uk, ireland, holland, ibiza majority of places in europe. the big clubs will always be playing trance which reels in the crowd. usa has never been into trance id hardly expect there to have a trance stronghold.

smaller clubs over here play house and r'n'b but anything major place its trance.

Sterilis,

Where do you live, pray tell? So I can move there! Are you sure you don't reside on a different planet?
